Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Clayton Kershaw, LAD at CLE ($63): I was close to suggesting Joe Ross ($32) after his recent 12-strikeout outing, but he's been too inconsistent to risk. Kershaw is the opposite, carving up opponents with 23 Ks in his last two starts to go with at least 32 fantasy points in four of his last five. To help, the Indians have been much worse against lefties with a team wOBA at .302.

Ty Blach, SF vs. KC ($33): On the cheaper end, I like another lefty in Blach, who has been fairly consistent despite giving up five runs in his last start. Before that, he had reached at least 15.6 fantasy points in five-straight outings. He's not a big strikeout guy, but with Kansas City's .294 wOBA against lefties, Blach could easily reach seven-plus innings yet again.

CATCHER

Jason Castro, MIN vs. SEA ($13): When Christian Bergman and Kyle Gibson faced off last week, it somehow turned into a pitcher's duel with the Twins winning 2-1. Most relevant in this spot is that Castro had one of the rare hits in that game as he belted a homer off Bergman. His .313 wOBA against righties leaves some to be desired, but he also has a hit in 12 of his last 13 games. Bergman's 4.71 xFIP against lefties can't be overlooked, either.

FIRST BASE

Trey Mancini, BAL at CWS ($11): At this price against Derek Holland, you can't do much better. Mancini has a .334 wOBA against lefties this season and that number jumps to .423 since the beginning of May (44 plate appearances). As for Holland, he has given up 14 runs in his last two starts including three homers to the Rays last time out.

SECOND BASE

Jonathan Schoop, BAL at CWS ($17): In fact, let's double up on Holland, who has an average 18.3 K% against righties, which helps in this matchup. Schoop has a 22.7 K% against lefties, but his selling point also comes since the start of May with a .446 wOBA in 43 plate appearances.

THIRD BASE

Kyle Seager, SEA at MIN ($19): Seager was one of the few Mariners that had success against Gibson last time and that should continue. His .327 wOBA against righties is fine, but it's hard to see Gibson continuing his recent run of five earned runs in his last three starts. His 5.68 xFIP against lefties could show up again against Seager.

SHORTSTOP

Troy Tulowitzki, TOR vs. TB ($9):Jacob Faria made his big-league debut last week, so the information on him is limited. And while not many good things have happened for Tulowitzki this season, his numbers are far better at home against righties with a .342 wOBA. He's not blowing anyone away, but that's why the price is so low.

OUTFIELD

Ezequiel Carrera, TOR vs. TB ($12): I'll attack that same matchup with a guy that only hits righties. Carrera is better across the board against them with a .362 wOBA and K% that's almost 10 points lower at 17.9. Since May 1, Carrera has a .393 wOBA against righties. Faria could be good, but this is a tough spot as the Jays have been much better at home against righties with a .367 wOBA, .223 ISO and 16.0 K% since the start of May as a team.

Marcell Ozuna, MIA vs. OAK ($17): Ozuna has supplied more power (.268 ISO) against righties this season to go with a .377 wOBA, so I'll take him in a righty-righty matchup. Similarly, Jharel Cotton has been worse against righties (.344 wOBA allowed) and has had some walk issues lately with 11 of them in his last three starts.

Ben Gamel, SEA at MIN ($12): Gamel is another one of the lefties that should bounce back against Gibson in this rematch. Surprisingly, that meeting with Gibson was the only time Gamel went hitless in his last 15 games. His .370 wOBA against righties should allow him to rebound and his 24.6 K% shouldn't matter much as Gibson has a 13.2 K% against lefties.
