FantasyDraft MLB: Sunday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft MLB series.

PITCHER

James Paxton, SEA vs. NYM ($23,600): The top of the board is looking very promising as the top two pitchers have nice matchups. Paxton has pitched very well in July, allowing just six runs in five starts. He's also continuing to rack up strikeouts at a high rate, recording 35 over his past four starts. The Mets rank in the top-half of the majors in wOBA against lefties this season, but they strike out at a high rate.

Gerrit Cole, PIT at SD ($21,300): Cole's season has been marked with highs and lows and rarely anything in between. However, he has quality starts in seven of his past eight games, while the Padres have the fourth-lowest wOBA and the highest K% against righties this season.

INFIELD

Yonder Alonso, OAK vs. MN ($7,600):Bartolo Colon has been outstanding during the first four innings of each start for the Twins, but he's yet to get to the sixth. The reason being, it's always just a matter of time before teams catch up to him. The A's aren't typically a good stacking option, but in this case, I'll make an exception and focus on Alonso, who has a .388 wOBA against right-handers this year.

Robinson Chirinos, TEX vs. BAL ($6,800): The Rangers haven't hit the ball well lately, but that could change with Wade Miley on the mound, as he enters with a 5.69 ERA. Miley has allowed at least five runs in four of his past five starts, with just one quality start in his last 10. Meanwhile, Chirinos provides a low cost option with high upside as he enters with a .402 wOBA against lefties.

Adrian Beltre, TEX vs. BAL ($9,600): Beltre failed in his bid to get his 3,000th hit Saturday night, but with Miley on the mound for the O's, there seems little doubt that he'll get it Sunday. Beltre's quest aside, he enters with a .405 wOBA against lefties this season, which leads the Rangers.

OUTFIELD

Khris Davis, OAK vs. MN ($9,300):Bartolo Colon enters with a 8.00 ERA and since joining the Twins, allowing seven runs in nine innings. The low cost A's are in play as well as the ones with higher salaries, like Davis, who has a .372 wOBA against righties.

Andrew McCutchen, PIT at SD ($9,300): The Pirates have been held in check over the first two games of this series, but that's bound to change with Clayton Richard taking the mound for the Padres. Richard enters with a 5.37 ERA, but he's been particularly bad in his past two starts, allowing 15 runs in 11.2 innings. McCutchen has been the best bat in the Pirates' lineup for the past couple months and he's clearly the best against lefties, posting a .460 wOBA against them.

Austin Jackson, CLE at CHW ($7,200):Carlos Rodon takes the hill for the White Sox after allowing 15 runs in his past three starts, lifting his ERA to 6.29. Meanwhile, Jackson comes in with a .424 wOBA against left-handed pitching.

UTILITY

David Freese, PIT at SD ($7,500): With Richard on the mound, the Pirates make for an interesting stack, not only because of Richard's inadequacies but because the Pirates are much better against righties. One of the Pirates who thrives against lefties is Freese, who enters with a .396 wOBA against them this season, which trails only McCutchen on the team.

Jonathan Schoop, BAL at TEX ($9,600): Schoop has been the most consistent bat in the O's lineup this season, and he's been on fire over the past couple weeks, posting double-digit scores in eight of his past 11 games. He has a team-high .385 wOBA against lefties this season, while left-hander Martin Perez comes in with a 4.67 ERA.
