McDermott will miss 4-to-6 weeks with a sprained ankle, per the school's official release.

McDermott had started the first six games of the season for the Bulldogs, giving them an extra scoring option at 9.3 PPG. The injury kept him out of Sunday's matchup against Ohio State, and it now appears it will be a long-term concern. The diagnosis likely means that Nate Fowler will replace him in a larger starting lineup, while sophomore Henry Baddley could step up to see more minutes off the bench.

McDermott (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against Ohio State.

With five days off separating Sunday's matchup from Butler's next game Dec. 2 against Saint Louis, McDermott will take a seat to rest his ailing ankle. Junior big man Nate Fowler (5.5 PPG) will get the starting nod in his stead.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McDermott is doubtful for Sunday's game against Ohio State due to an ankle injury, David Woods of the Indianapolis Star reports.

McDermott suffered the injury during the team's most recent game Friday, limiting him to just 18 minutes of action. In the four games prior to that, he had posted 12.8 points and 3.3 rebounds across 31.3 minutes per game. A replacement starter has yet to be determined if McDermott ultimately misses the contest, though Henry Baddley is an option.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McDermott scored a team-high 17 points (5-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT) with three rebounds in the loss to Maryland on Wednesday.

The Bulldog offense could not solve the Terrapin defense and shot just 34.3 percent as a team. They had just 10 assists on 23 made baskets. McDermott only scored a combined six points in the first two games, but was the rare Butler player to find some success against Maryland. He should continue to start and get a decent amount of offensive opportunities.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McDermott led the Bulldogs with 14 points (6-9 FG. 2-5 3Pt) and four assists in the exhibition win over Hanover on Saturday.

The 6-6 sophomore started at small forward and equaled Kelan Martin in shots attempted. He only played 10.4 minutes as a redshirt freshman last season, but could be in for a bigger role after a strong summer and a need for offense behind Martin.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McDermott was unable to practice for two weeks because of an ankle sprain, but is now a "full go," the Indianapolis Star reports.

McDermott has packed on six pounds of muscle as he prepared for a bigger role with the 2017-18 Bulldogs. The 6-6 sophomore averaged 2.3 points in 10.7 minutes last season. He may not start, but should certainly be a rotation player capable of hitting 3-pointers. McDermott took 42 of his 53 shots last year from beyond the arc.

December 10, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McDermott joined the Bulldogs' starting lineup and scored seven points in the win over Cincinnati on Saturday. He hit a pair of 3-pointers.

McDermott replaced Kelan Martin in the starting lineup as Chris Holtmann shook things up after the team lost to Indiana State on Wednesday. The 6-6 redshirt freshman has been a regular part of the rotation and could get more minutes as a starter.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McDermott will redshirt the 2015-16 season, David Woods of the Indianapolis Star reports.

McDermott hasn't made any appearances for Butler this season which makes his decision to redshirt fairly easy. Even when eligible, the 6-6 guard won't likely be a viable option for another couple of years.
