RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Alkins (foot) has a chance to play Saturday against Alabama if he's able to practice the next two days, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

Arizona could be getting a significant piece of its backcourt back in the fold this weekend should Alkins make it through the next two practices unscathed. Alkins started 36 games last season, averaging 10.9 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the floor. Considering the length of his absence, Alkins may take a few games to build up his stamina to play starter-level minutes again.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Alkins (foot) has been cleared for full-contact practice, but will remain out for Tuesday's game against Texas A&M, Dan Green of Sports Illustrated reports.

Alkins has been recovering from foot surgery that he underwent back in September, but good news coming out from Arizona as he's been cleared for full-contact practice. Unfortunately he still won't be able to compete Tuesday night against Texas A&M, however there is a good chance he'll be back in the lineup for Saturday's game against Alabama.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coach Sean Miller remains unable to provide a timetable for the return of Alkins (foot), the Arizona Daily Star reports.

Miller wasn't even sure if Alkins would be ready for a Dec. 5 matchup against undefeated Texas A&M, so it seems likely he'll at least be out Wednesday against Long Beach State, as well as Saturday at UNLV. Miller did admit that Alkins maybe would have been available if the upcoming contests were tournament games, which suggests he isn't too far from a return. While the team takes a conservative approach, look for freshman Brandon Randolph to occupy Alkins' spot in the starting lineup.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Alkins (foot) is unlikely to return for this week's Battle 4 Atlantis tournament that tips off Wednesday against NC State, the Arizona Daily Star reports.

Alkins is approximately eight weeks into his original 8-to-12 week recovery timetable, and is already showing good signs. He shed his walking boot, and was seen taking long jumpers on the court prior to Thursday's matchup against CSU Baskersfield. Though it's unlikely he'll be ready for the upcoming three-day tournament, coach Sean Miller doesn't believe the sophomore will need the full 12 weeks. The team will continue taking a conservative approach, with Alkins' next target return date potentially being a Nov. 29 matchup against Long Beach State. In his stead, freshman Emmanuel Akot (5.3 points, 2.7 rebounds) has been filling in admirably, though the arrival of Alkins back in the starting lineup will be a huge boost.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Alkins recently underwent surgery on a fractured bone in his foot, and will be out 8-to-12 weeks, Bruce Pascoe of the Arizona Daily Star reports.

Alkins, a sophomore, averaged 10.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 28 minutes per game. He decided to test the NBA draft waters this year but opted to return to Arizona for another season. His earliest return possible right now seems to be around November 20. There will likely be more updates on his recovery.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Alkins announced on his personal Twitter account that he's going to withdraw from the 2017 NBA Draft and return to Arizona.

Alkins had a solid freshman campaign with the Wildcats, averaging 10.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists across 28.0 minutes per game. He opted to go through the predaft process in order to talk to NBA scouts about where he could be drafted, but it appears he didn't like what he heard and will now return to Arizona in an attempt to boost his stock.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Alkins has entered his name in the upcoming NBA draft but will not sign with an agent.

Coming off a strong freshman season, Alkins will test the draft waters while still leaving open the possibility of heading back to Tuscon for another season in the college ranks. Alkins started 36 of a possible 37 games and averaged 10.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 0.9 steals. Although Alkins was an impressive freshman forward, he may very well end up returning to Arizona depending on what feedback he gets from NBA talent evaluators.
