Thornwell scored just 15 points (4-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT) with five rebounds during the loss to Gonzaga in the Final Four on Saturday.

Thornwell had averaged 25.8 points in the Gamecocks' four previous NCAA Tournament games. He had suffered with an illness prior to the game, but also had to deal with the defense of 6-9 Johnathan Williams. The 6-5 senior had an excellent season with 21.4 points and 7.1 rebounds, and could play at the next level as a shooting guard if he lands on the right team.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Thornwell announced that he's recovered from the illness that kept him out Thursday and added that he will practice Friday, The State reports. "I'm fine, doing good. Just a fever and headache," said Thornwell.

There was quite the stir Thursday when Thornwell, South Carolina's most important player, sat out of practice due to an illness. However, during his media availability Friday, Thornwell made it sound as though the illness is behind him and that he'll be good to go for Saturday's Final Four clash against Gonzaga. Thornwell has been on an absolute tear since the start of the tournament, averaging 26.3 points on 52.2 percent shooting while pulling down 8.0 rebounds. He will present a matchup nightmare for Gonzaga's perimeter defenders on Saturday.

Thornwell was held out of Thursday's practice because of an illness, Andy Katz of ESPN.com reports.

With South Carolina not playing until Saturday, Thornwell will still have a couple days off to rest and recover from the illness that kept him out of Thursday's practice. The fact that this will likely be one of the biggest games of his collegiate career, it's hard to believe an illness would keep him off the floor, but it will be a situation to monitor over the next few days. Tentatively consider Thornwell questionable against Gonzaga on Saturday, with another update likely coming following Friday's practice session.

Thornwell poured in another 26 points (8-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-10 FT), adding seven rebounds and two steals in Sunday's regional semifinal victory over Florida.

Thornwell averaged 20.8 PPG leading up to the NCAA Tournament, but the senior has played out of his mind in The Dance, posting a 25.8 PPG mark. He's carried the Gamecocks to a Final Four berth, where they'll look to pull the upset against the No. 1-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday.

Thornwell notched a game-high 24 points (6-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 8-10 FT) and added six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks in a 20 point win over Baylor on Friday.

The SEC Player of the Year was once again spectacular. This was the 18th game this season in which he has scored at least 20 points. Thornwell is averaging 25.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game so far in the NCAA Tournament. He is also 10-of-22 from three-point range in those three games. This sets up an Elite Eight between two SEC teams when the Gamecocks take on Florida this Sunday. South Carolina is 1-1 for the season against the Gators and Thornwell averaged 21.5 PPG in those contests.

Thornwell had 24 points (6-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 9-12 FT), six rebounds, and five assists across 36 minutes in Sunday's NCAA Tournament upset victory over Duke.

Thornwell was one of four South Carolina players to reach double figures, as the team scored 65 points in the second half to earn the stunning victory. The 6-5 wing will need another huge performance if the Gamecocks hope to advance from Friday's Sweet Sixteen matchup against Baylor.

Thornwell led the Gamecocks with 29 points (10-19 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT) and 11 rebounds during the win over Marquette on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He added three steals, two assists, and two blocks.

Thornwell has scored at least 15 points in 16 straight games and had his sixth double-double of the season. He has the ability to put up big numbers and could expose the porous perimeter defense of Duke on Sunday. The senior led the Gamecocks to their first NCAA Tournament in his four-year career. He is hitting 83.3 percent of his free throws on 8.2 attempts per game.
