Smith (foot) returned to the starting lineup after missing the Monday loss to West Virginia and provided six points (2-4 FG, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds in the win over TCU on Saturday.

Smith sat out the second half of two-game set over 48 hours. He should be in the rotation for the Big 12 tournament, but coach Chris Beard will be careful with the 6-8 senior who missed the majority of the season with the foot injury. If the Red Raiders make a tourney run, Smith may only be a partial contributor.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Smith (foot) will start Saturday's game against TCU.

Smith took the last game off after returning from an extended absence for the Feb. 24 matchup against Kansas. It appears the big man is good to go moving forward and he should play around 20 minutes per contest for the Red Raiders in the postseason. The senior will be among those honored on Senior Day and it wouldn't be surprising if he receives a slight minutes boost with his insertion into the starting five.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Smith (foot) is expected to take the floor for Saturday's game against TCU, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

Smith returned from a prolonged absence against Kansas on Feb. 24, but he then took another game off after logging 22 minutes against the Jayhawks. It's possible the big man was taking a breather after returning from an extended absence. Either way, Smith's return to the rotation should provide a huge boost to the Red Raiders down low, with him averaging 7.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 blocks and one steal over the first 12 games of the season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Smith (foot) did not play Monday against West Virginia, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.

Smith made his long awaited return on Saturday in the loss to Kansas. He scored one point in 22 minutes. Coach Chris Beard had two other starters - Keenan Evans (toe), Justin Gray (concussion) - sat two other starters. Smith should get minutes on Saturday against TCU.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Smith (foot) returned to action Saturday after a 13-game absence, posting one point and four rebounds over 22 minutes off the bench in a loss to Kansas.

Though Smith didn't have a major impact on the box score, having him back will be a major boost to the Red Raiders as they look ahead to March. Prior to his injury, Smith started 14 of 15 games and averaged 6.5 points and 3.9 boards while shooting well over 50 percent from the floor. Look for Smith to potentially return to the starting lineup Monday when Texas Tech takes on West Virginia.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coach Chris Beard indicated Thursday that "things are going in a positive direction" for Smith (foot) and he continues to undergo X-rays, Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News reports. Smith shed his cast approximately a week ago and will not play until he's 100 percent.

Smith's return at any point this season seems in question, but the big man has at least made some progress on that front. More information should begin to surface if he nears a return. For the time being, it's best to consider him out indefinitely as he continues to rehab and undergoes tests on his injured foot.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Smith (foot) is not in the starting lineup Saturday against TCU and there is no indication that he'll be available off the bench.

A broken foot has sidelined Smith since the middle of January and it seems that his absence will continue Saturday. Once Smith returns to practice, it'll be easier to pinpoint when a possible return date would be. The Red Raiders will start Zhaire Smith and Norense Odiase up front against the Horned Frogs.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coach Chris Beard announced Saturday that Smith is dealing with a broken bone in his foot, Carlos Silva of Lubbock Online reports.

This is a big loss for the Red Raiders with Smith seemingly looking at an extended absence. Smith has missed each of the last two games as a result of the injury and it'd appear as though his status for the rest of the month is in jeopardy. A firmer timeline on his absence should be available in the coming days, but Smith should be considered out until further notice.
