Taylor (ankle) will be available for the Boilermakers on Friday, but he will likely be eased into consistent action, Nathan Baird of the Journal & Courier reports.

Taylor isn't expected to be a major contributor for the Boilermakers this season, but he should provide the frontcourt with some depth off the bench and could see some minutes early in the season against some of the smaller schools.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taylor (ankle) intends to practice Wednesday for approximately one hour, Nathan Baird of the Lafayette Journal & Courier reports.

Taylor has been practicing in 30-minute spurts of late, but was able to get in an hour of work Tuesday and intends to do the same Wednesday. "He looked good," according to coach Matt Painter, who added "He's a little bit sore. All signs point to him being able to go [Wednesday] for about an hour." Though his progress is encouraging, Taylor is unlikely to be a key figure in the rotation once fully healthy. He's played just a combined 102 minutes during his first two collegiate seasons. The frontcourt minutes are expected to be occupied primarily by Vince Edwards and Isaac Haas, but the 6-10 Taylor could be an option in relief once healthy.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taylor practiced for the first time in a month Tuesday, Nathan Baird of the Lafayette Journal & Courier reports.

This is great news for the Boilermakers, as Taylor has been battling an ankle injury for over a month. He's listed as a game time decision for Friday's opener against SIU.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taylor will receive another scan on his ankle within the next week, Nathan Baird of the Journal & Courier reports.

Taylor will not compete in Saturday's exhibition game against Indiana State, but still expects to be ready to go for the season opener Nov. 10. It's mildly concerning that the big man needs to undergo yet another scan, but coach Matt Painter is optimistic that things are progressing for Taylor, especially since he was finally able to shed a walking boot in recent days. Although Taylor may be deemed available for the beginning of the regular season, he will likely need to be eased back into the swing of things after missing a great deal of practice time over the past month.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taylor (ankle) hopes to be ready for Purdue's season opener against SIUE on Nov. 10, The Lafayette Journal & Courier reports.

Taylor will be sidelined for approximately the rest of October due to the ailment, which could hinder his offensive development after already spending so much time on the shelf. If healthy, the 6-10 forward should see the floor for a modest amount of minutes, serving as the primary backup to starting center Isaac Haas. Haas has never seen more than 20 minutes per game in his collegiate career, so there is room for a backup to have a significant role. If Taylor can't fill that void, coach Matt Painter may look to redshirt freshman Matt Haarms for more time on the floor.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taylor will miss the rest of October with a minor bone crack in his left ankle, Nathan Baird of the Journal&Courier reports.

Taylor missed the entire 2016-17 season with a stress fracture in the very same ankle, which causes quite a bit of concern for the big man moving forward. Although he's hoping to be back for Purdue's "secret" scrimmage against West Virginia toward the end of the month, that seems a tad optimistic. There will be further updates on Taylor's status as that date approaches.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taylor (ankle) has been cleared to participate in all basketball activities.

Taylor missed the entire 2016-17 season with an ankle injury. The Boilermakers lost a ton of frontcourt production with the departure of Caleb Swanigan, and Taylor's ability to spread the floor could help, however Isaac Haas and Vince Edwards will likely receive most of the minutes down low.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Taylor (ankle) is not expected to return this season, Nathan Baird of the Journal & Courier reports.

The third-year player will likely lose his second collegiate season as a result of an injury as he is reportedly "not close" to being able to practice. He underwent November surgery to repair a stress fracture in his ankle. Although his absence leaves Purdue somewhat thin in the froncourt, the pairing of Caleb Swanigan and Isaac Hass, in addition to the presence of Vince Edwards, gives the Boilermakers a strong frontcourt overall.
