Maldonado appeared in 29 games (19 starts) for the Cowboys in his freshman season, and it looked like he was going to ramp up his production significantly before running into injury problems. While the 6-7 wing was in and out of the starting lineup, he was putting up 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds across 32.5 minutes over the first eight games of the 2018-19 campaign. Maldonado then starting experiencing back spasms in early-December and suffered another setback later in the month. By mid-January, he made the decision to take a medical redshirt season. Now with three full seasons of eligibility remaining, Maldonado will look to earn back his starting role. From the shades he displayed last season, he could be poised to make a big fantasy impact in Mountain West formats.
