January 17, 2019
Maldonado (back) announced via his personal Twitter account that he will medically redshirt this season.
ANALYSIS
Maldonado got off to a hot start, averaging 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals over his first eight games (five starts). However, back issues began to hamper his play at the beginning of December, and he's since decided to sit out the rest of the year to ensure he's at full strength for the 2019-20 campaign. Maldonado figures to serve as a key contributor for the Cowboys next season after returning to full strength.
