Transferring to Hawaii
GHawaii
August 12, 2019
Ali committed Thursday to join the Hawaii program as a transfer from Washington State, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Ali will play out his final year of eligibility on the Big Island, but it's uncertain whether he'll suit up in 2019-20 or have to wait until 2020-21 to do so. According to KHON2.com, the 5-foot-11 point guard will pursue a waiver from the NCAA that would grant him immediate eligibility, but it's unclear when a ruling on that front would be made. If given the green light to suit up in 2019-20, Ali, who started 24 of 32 games for Washington State and averaged 7.3 points and 2.9 assists in 21.2 minutes, should fill a vital role in the Rainbow Warriors' backcourt.
