Whitaker (undisclosed) is not on the depth chart against the Roughriders on Sunday.

Whitaker will miss the Eastern Final, but could return for the Grey Cup next weekend, were the Argonauts to advance. In his place, Anthony Coombs is listed as in a running back/slotback position while Martese Jackson could see some time in the backfield.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (undisclosed) is not on the depth chart for this weekend's clash against Winnipeg, and was placed on the one-game injured list Friday.

Whitaker was able to play during Saturday's game against Edmonton -- his first time back on the field in over a month -- but only received 10 carries for 39 yards and minimal impact as a pass-catcher. For the time being, he's back on the shelf while James Wilder (undisclosed) regains the main role in the backfield for this weekend.

October 15, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball 10 times for 39 yards and added three catches for six yards in Saturday's 30-27 loss to Edmonton.

In his first game in over a month, Whitaker didn't do much to stake a claim to the starting RB spot for the Argos when both he and James Wilder (undisclosed) are healthy. Assuming Wilder remains sidelined for another week, though, Whitaker will get another chance to return to form next Saturday at home against the Blue Bombers.

October 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (undisclosed) was added to the depth chart for Saturday's game against Edmonton.

Head coach Marc Trestman discussed Whitaker's status earlier in the week, and with James Wilder (undisclosed) taken off the active roster for this weekend's tilt, it appears as though Whitaker is in line for the bulk of the carries. He hasn't played since late August, as this marks Whitaker's first game back on the depth chart since facing the Tiger-Cats in Week 11, so it remains to be seen how much action he receives.

October 12, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (undisclosed) "will be up" and likely return to the field for Saturday's game against Edmonton on Saturday, according to head coach Marc Trestman.

Trestman discussed Whitaker's availability while announcing that fellow running back James Wilder will likely miss this weekend's game with an undisclosed injury. Wilder had been gouging defenses since taking over in Whitaker's stead during the past four games, and it will be interesting to see how Trestman handles the backfield once both are healthy.

October 6, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (undisclosed) will not play Saturday against the Roughriders.

This marks the fourth consecutive contest that Whitaker will miss due to an undisclosed injury. There hasn't been an update on his timetable at the moment, and he should be considered questionable heading into next weekend's contest in Edmonton. In his place, James Wilder is listed as the team's starting running back.

September 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (undisclosed) will not play in Saturday's game against the Tiger-Cats.

This will be the third straight contest that Whitaker will miss, and there is still no update on his timetable for a return. James Wilder is again listed as the team's starting running back in Whitaker's absence.

September 23, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (undisclosed) will not play Saturday for the second week in a row.

Whitaker will miss a second straight game, and it remains to be seen when he will be ready to get back on the field. James Wilder will work as the starting running back again in Whitaker's absence.

September 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball seven times for 27 yards and caught five passes for 49 yards in Monday's 24-22 loss to the Tiger-Cats.

For the sixth time in eight games Whitaker failed to top 30 rushing yards in a game, but his consistency as a receiver -- he's caught multiple passes in every game he's played this season -- has allowed him to maintain some fantasy value. His 538 yards from scrimmage is still a far cry from the 1,558 he managed in 18 games last season, however.

August 27, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball six times for 15 yards and added five catches for 29 yards in Saturday's 23-7 loss to the Stampeders.

The Argos' offense produced only three first-half first downs and failed to score a point in the entire game, as the team's only TD came on an interception return. Anthony Coombs' shoulder injury has benefited S.J. Green more than Whitaker, and while the 31-year-old remains Toronto's lead RB, his 462 yards from scrimmage and zero TDs through seven games aren't moving the needle much in fantasy terms.

August 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker notched 18 rushes for 89 yards and added two receptions for 30 yards in Saturday's 38-6 win over the Als.

Whitaker's productive effort was overshadowed due to the fireworks produced by teammates Ricky Ray and S.J. Green, but the veteran tailback was impressive in his own right. The 31-year-old has his two best rushing totals of the season over his last pair of contests and seems to have a modest but consistent role in the passing game as well. Whitaker will look to continue providing important balance when the Argos face off against the Stamps in Week 10.

August 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball 13 times for 96 yards and added four catches for 24 yards in Friday's 21-9 loss to the Alouettes.

In his second game back from an undisclosed injury, Whitaker more than doubled his rushing yards on the season as the the Als defense focused on shutting down the Argos passing attack. He's still looking for his first touchdown of the season, but expect the 31-year-old to have another productive performance next week in the rematch back in Toronto.

August 2, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (undisclosed) is set to make his return from the six-game injured list Thursday against Calgary, Don Landry of CFL.com reports.

Whitaker sat out the last two games while on the injured list, but Toronto decided to bring him back well in advance of the six games it appeared he would miss. In his last appearance he accounted for 62 yards on nine touches. He is listed as the top back on the depth chart this week, so he figures to be the primary option in the Argonauts' backfield.

July 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (undisclosed) was placed on the six-game injured list Tuesday, Justin Dunk of Sportsnet.ca reports.

It's not clear what is ailing Whitaker, but he was held out of a couple games -- including Monday's victory over the Redblacks -- of late, and he will apparently need several more weeks to fully recover from his setback. With Whitaker out, James Wilder is in line to take over as the Argonauts' top running back.

July 23, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Redblacks, Jeff Krever of CFL.ca reports.

Whitaker also missed time in late June, so it's unclear if this is some sort of aggravation of a previous injury or if it's an entirely new one. Either way, he'll sit out Monday's contest, with his next chance to the see the field on Saturday against the Roughriders. Look for James Wilder to take over as the lead back and see a bump in carries.

July 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball six times for 19 yards and caught three passes for 43 yards in Thursday's 33-25 loss to the Blue Bombers.

It's been a rough start to the season for Whitaker, who's managed only 152 yards from scrimmage (66 rushing, 86 receiving) through three games without scoring a TD. He's topped 1,000 combined yards in each of the last two years for the Argos, but the 31-year-old could lose his hold on the starting job if he doesn't start picking up the pace for new head coach Marc Trestman.

July 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (ankle) gained 26 yards on seven rushes and added 28 yards on four receptions in Saturday's 26-25 win over the Redblacks.

Whitaker and James Wilder, Jr. shared backfield touches, although the former did see four more carries. The 31-year-old found more running room than in Week 1 against the Ti-Cats, when he'd been limited to 2.3 yards per carry and tallied 15 yards on two receptions. Whitaker's night was better on both counts Saturday, and he could be in for an even bigger share of the workload when the Argos take on the Blue Bombers in Week 4. However, it's worth noting that head coach Marc Trestman's offensive system seems designed to lean heavily on the air attack, which could limit Whitaker's rushing opportunities overall this season.

July 7, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker (ankle) will start at running back in Saturday's game against the Redblacks.

Whitaker was held out of last week's game due to his injury, but his setback will not prevent him from taking the field this week. Whitaker will look to get things going this week after totaling just 36 yards on 11 touches in the lone game he appeared in this season.

June 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker will sit out Friday's game against the Lions due to an undisclosed injury.

The extent and severity of Whitaker's injury remains unclear at this point in time, but for now, he's just been placed on the one-game injured list. James Wilder is fully expected to draw the start in his place, so he should receive the bulk of the carries against the Lions on Friday.

June 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried nine times for 21 yards and added 15 yards on two receptions in Sunday's 32-15 win over Hamilton.

On an afternoon when Ricky Ray exploded for a career-best 506 yards passing, Whitaker received a modest amount of opportunities on the ground. The veteran back did nothing to hurt his standing as the top backfield option, however, and figures to see more ample opportunity in subsequent weeks. Whitaker checks into 2017 coming off the second 1,000-yard campaign of his career and first in a Toronto uniform.

June 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker had just two carries for five yards during the preseason, but he will open the regular season as the Argonauts' starting running back.

Whitaker and new head coach Mark Trestman spent several years together earlier in their careers, so Trestman was able to let the veteran Whitaker take it easy during the preseason. While Whitaker will turn 32 later this year, there is plenty to like about his prospects: he finished second in the CFL in rushing yards last year, has averaged fewer than 5.1 YPC just once in eight seasons, and posted a career-best 2,019 total yards as the primary running back in Trestman's offense in 2011.

March 30, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker re-signed with the Argonauts on Thursday.

Whitaker was an East Division All Star in 2016, amassing 1558 total yards and seven touchdowns in 18 regular season games. The eight-year CFL running back also recorded 189 carries, good for third in the league, and his 1009 rushing yards were second only to Calgary's Jerome Messam. Whitaker will look to put together another strong season in 2017.

October 22, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball nine times for 37 yards and caught eight passes for 30 yards and a touchdown in Friday's loss to the Stampeders.

He now leads all CFL running backs in catches (77), receiving yards (527) and receiving TDs (four). The Argos are now out of the playoffs, so it's possible that the front office elects to give another RB a look over Whitaker in their final game of the season, Nov. 5 in Edmonton.

October 16, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball six times for 25 yards and caught four passes for 41 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's loss to the Roughriders.

It was his third receiving TD and fifth total TD on the season, but Whitaker's first score in five games. The Argos' offense is a mess right now, but the running back is still its most consistent performer.

October 11, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker lost three yards on three rushes and gained 22 yards on four receptions in Monday's 48-20 loss to the Stamps.

The veteran running back was stymied on the ground for the first time in 2016, with both his rushing attempt and yardage totals representing season lows. The Argos fell behind by a significant margin relatively early in the contest as well, further dampening Whitaker's prospects for rushing opportunities. Despite the disastrous outing Monday, Whitaker's 830 rushing yards on the season represent his best total in that category since his career-high 1,381 yards with the Als back in 2011. He'll look to rebound when the Argos face off against the Roughriders in Week 17.

October 3, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball 12 times for 95 yards while adding six catches for 37 yards in Sunday's loss to the Alouettes.

He's now Toronto's leading receiver on the season with 61 catches, in addition to being second in the CFL in rushing yards with 833. The Argos did some housecleaning on their roster Monday, releasing four wide receivers, so expect Whitaker to continue seeing a large share of the team's touches on offense.

September 24, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball six times for 38 yards while adding nine catches for 46 yards in Friday's loss to the Redblacks.

The Argos fell into an early hole, limiting Whitaker's opportunities on the ground, but he compensated with the team-high nine grabs. He currently sits second in the CFL with 738 rushing yards on the year, just one yard behind league leader Jerome Messam.

September 17, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker gained 108 yards on 12 rushes and added one catch for 12 yards in Saturday's 46-29 loss to the Blue Bombers.

The veteran Baylor product was highly effective in his limited opportunities on the ground, equaling his season-best rushing total that he had originally established back in Week 9 against the Eskimos. Whitaker's 700 yards rushing represent his third-highest showing in that category over his career, and he remains on pace for the second 1,000-yard season of his career.

September 12, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball 12 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns while adding three catches for 19 yards in Sunday's win over the Tiger-Cats.

Amazingly, those were the first two rushing TDs of the season for Whitaker, who's otherwise been solid with 931 combined yards through 11 games.

September 6, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball eight times for 50 yards while adding six catches for 39 yards and a touchdown in Monday's loss to the Tiger-Cats.

The two teams combined for over 900 yards of total offense in the wild affair, and Whitaker got his fair share of the action. The score was just his second of the season though, both coming through the air, as he remains a secondary option in the Argos' offense.

September 1, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker totaled 35 yards on nine carries and added 20 yards on five receptions in Wednesday's 16-13 loss to the Lions.

The veteran back fell back to earth after a season-high 108 yards rushing last week versus the Eskimos. He did manage his third-highest reception total of the season and most since Week 4 versus the Redblacks, but only tallied four yards per catch. Whitaker's production typically fluctuates week-to-week, but he may find some decent running room in coming games with Ricky Ray once again behind center.

August 13, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball 12 times for 43 yards while catching one pass for 14 yards in Friday's loss to the Blue Bombers.

Logan Kilgore, in his second start in place of Ricky Ray (knee) at quarterback, threw five interceptions in the game which made it impossible for the Argos to sustain any drives and get Whitaker more involved in the offense. With 571 combined yards through seven games, the 30-year-old RB is on pace for his third straight season with 1000 or more yards from scrimmage, but overall it's been a bit of a disappointing 2016 so far for Whitaker.

August 1, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker gained 57 yards on 14 carries and tallied 49 yards on four receptions in Sunday's 23-20 victory over the Redblacks.

The Baylor product went over 100 yards of offense for the first time since Week 3 and made his usual contributions through the air. Whitaker has been solid for the Argos in 2016, tallying double-digit carries in four of Toronto's first six contests and notching at least four receptions in all but one of those games as well. Factoring in Sunday's production, Whitaker has totaled a combined 514 yards of offense over the first six weeks of the season.

July 26, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball 15 times for 67 yards while catching four passes for 16 yards in Monday's win over the Alouettes.

The 30-year-old continues to be a two-way threat out of the Argos' backfield, rushing for 224 yards through five games but adding 24 catches for 184 yards and a score. Whitaker has topped 1000 combined yards in each of the last two seasons despite missing a handful of games due to injury and he's well on pace to make it three straight in 2016.

July 14, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carried the ball five times for just 18 yards Wednesday but also caught six passes for 54 yards and his first touchdown of the season in a loss to the Redblacks.

He also attempted a pass of his own but it fell incomplete. Whitaker hasn't been able to get much going on the ground so far this season, rushing for just 157 yards through four games, but his 20 catches and 168 receiving yards have allowed him to retain solid fantasy value. His previous career highs as a receiver are 72 catches for 638 yards, set back in 2011 with Montreal, but given his current role in the Toronto offense he appears poised to challenge or even top those numbers.

July 8, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker gained 97 yards on 13 carries and netted 55 yards on seven receptions in Thursday's 25-14 victory over the Lions.

The veteran back enjoyed his most productive game to date, tallying a season-high 152 yards of total offense. Whitaker was outstanding on the ground, frequently swallowing up solid chunks of real estate against the Lions front. His pass-catching prowess was on full display, with his seven receptions serving as a season-best figure. With the Argos apparently seeking to keep a semblance of balance for veteran quarterback Ricky Ray this season, Whitaker appears primed for heavy use throughout the campaign.

July 1, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker gained 40 yards on 11 rushes and added 33 yards on four receptions in Thursday's 30-17 victory over the Roughriders.

While the performance wasn't anything particularly noteworthy, it certainly represented a significant improvement over Whitaker's frustrating Week 1 effort. He found himself the recipient of just three carries in the blowout defeat last week, as the Tigercats' defensive line stonewalled him on his few opportunities. The 30-year-old found some easier sledding against the Roughriders on Thursday, and was able to make solid contributions in the passing game as well. The former 1,000-yard rusher will attempt to build on the positive outing in the Argos' Week 3 matchup versus the BC Lions.

June 24, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Whitaker carries the ball just three times for two yards in Thursday's loss to the Tiger-Cats, although he did catch three passes for 26 yards.

Hamilton's defensive line dominated the line of scrimmage, completely stifling Toronto's running game while also sacking Ricky Ray six times. Whitaker will have better, more productive matchups ahead though and at the moment has little competition for the lead role in the Argos' backfield.
