Hollweg spent 2011-12 with the Portland Pirates, notching five points in 43 games without an NHL call-up. At this point in his 15-year career, he's nothing more than organizational depth, but if a call-up comes, he'll deliver PIMs. Nothing more, nothing less.
Hollweg spent the season with San Antonio in 2009-10 where he posted four goals and six assists with a minus-11 rating. The possibilities are slim for him to crack the Coyotes' line-up in 2010-11, and if he does, he will be at best a fourth line checker.
Hollweg is one of those mouth-breathing, knuckle draggers whose sole responsibility is to protect the team's stars. Funny thing, though -- the Leafs don't have any of those. You might get PIMs out of him but even then, there are better options available.
Hollweg plays the role as one of the team’s tough men, but isn’t your prototypical goon. He’ll mix it up from time to time, but picks his spots when they’re right. Hollweg racked up 131 PIMs in 2006-07 to go along with one goal and two assists in 78 games played.
Hollweg appeared in 52 games with the Rangers registering two goals and three assists, along with 84 penalty minutes; he's ranked second on the team with 126 hits and third on the team with 84 penalty minutes. Hollweg plays primarily on the fourth line and as a penalty killer; He's not afraid to get involved physically and will throw his body around. He'll likely stay in that special teams/fourth line role going into the 2006-07 season, so expect him to rack up high PIMs and rattle opponents.
Hollweg will remain in the WHL, where he played last season with the Medicine Hat Tigers, registering 25 goals and 32 assists for 57 points, along with 117 penalty minutes.
