Drops unanimous decision to Ryan LaFlare in Atlantic City
WelterweightUFC
April 21, 2018
Garcia lost to Ryan LaFlare via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlantic City.
ANALYSIS
It's rare that a fighter will go 5/7 on takedown attempts and not receive a single round from any of the three judges, but that's how it went for Garcia on Saturday. The Dominican Nightmare did nothing on the feet and struggled massively with the grinding, methodical style of LaFlare. Garcia trains with a top team in TriStar, but that hasn't helped him get on any sort of roll during his time with the company. He has alternated wins and losses in his last eight fights.
Will fight Ryan LaFlare in Atlantic City
WelterweightUFC
March 6, 2018
Garcia will fight Ryan LaFlare at UFC Atlantic City on April 21, Alexander K. Lee of MMAfighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Garcia has alternated wins and losses over his last seven fights, but most recently pulled off a submission victory over Muslim Salikhov at UFC Fight Night back in November. He'll look to keep the momentum going against the 34-year-old Ryan LaFlare, who owns a career record of 13-2, but is coming of a knockout loss to Alex Oliviera in July. Garcia will have to overcome a fairly significant height disadvantage at 5-foot-9 compared to the 6-foot-1 Garcia, though both fighters appear capable of fighting both upright and on the ground. Garcia owns six KO/TKOs and six submissions, while LaFlare has tallied four KO/TKOs and three submissions.
Impressive in underdog submission victory in Shanghai
WelterweightUFC
November 26, 2017
Garcia defeated Muslim Salikhov via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:22 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night: Shanghai on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Garcia had a great all around performance in this fight. Salikhov is a decorated kickboxer and Garcia was able to use good defense to negate the kickboxing when the fight was standing. "King of Kung Fu" only landed 10 strikes in the fight, and Garcia did a good job of mixing in takedowns to keep the Russian honest. Garcia didn't do a lot of damage on the ground, but it helped to slow the Russian's kickboxing attack. Ultimately, Garcia was able to secure a double leg takedown in Round 2, got to side control and then took Salikhov's back and locked in a rear-naked choke.

ANALYSIS
