Martins will not be offered a new contract by the UFC, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Martins lost his UFC debut when he was called to fight Edson Barboza on short notice. However, the Brazilian then rattled off three straight victories to earn a three-fight deal with the UFC. Martins dropped the first two bouts of that contract, but bounced back with a split-decision victory over Robert Whiteford on April 10. Despite winning his fourth fight with the promotion, Martins remains unranked in a deep featherweight division. Rather than offer him a new deal, the UFC will instead permit him to negotiate with other promotions. According to the report, he already has an offer from Bellator on the table, though nothing has been finalized just yet.

Lucas Martins: Falls To Mirsad Bektic Saturday
Martins fell to Mirsad Bektic via TKO at 0:30 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Goiania, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Facing one of the best young fighters in the game, Martins simply had no chance. He was dragged to the ground early, dominated on the feet and he got off virtually no offense, landing just 11 total strikes. Martins has now lost two in a row after winning three straight. There's very few fighters in the world who would have been able to beat Bektic on Saturday, so the loss isn't the end of the world for Martins.
