Let go after two years with UFC
Light HeavyweightOther
November 16, 2017
Da Silva was released from the UFC along with four other fighters, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Da Silva's career with the UFC has been a short one. He started with the promotion in 2016 with two wins only to lose the next four, the last two via first-round knockout. He leaves the UFC with a 12-4 record alongside Takanori Gomi, Hacran Dias, Adiano Martins and Carlos Felipe.

Shows durability in Round 1 KO loss
Light HeavyweightOther
September 24, 2017
Da Silva was defeated by Gokhan Saki via KO (punch) at 4:45 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Japan.
ANALYSIS
Da Silva showed great durability. He took a beating in the opening minutes of the fight and seemed to injure his eye. "Frankenstein" tried to take the fight to the ground, but was not able to secure the takedown. He mounted some offense, landed great knees from the Thai clinch, but ultimately succumbed to a huge left hand from Saki. This was a terrible fight for da Silva as his style is to keep the fight standing, and Saki is one of the best kickboxing practitioners in the history of martial arts.
Looking at release after Saturday's loss
Light HeavyweightOther
June 10, 2017
Da Silva lost to Ion Cutelaba via KO (punches) at 0:22 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 110 on Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand.
ANALYSIS
It is difficult to break down a fight that lasts all of 22 seconds. As has been the case lately, Da Silva no-showed a fight that he had to have. He showed no ability to get out of the way from the crushing combination from Cutelaba that ended the contest. In less than six months, he has gone from a fighter who won his first two UFC bouts to a fighter who is currently slated to be released.
Looks terrible in loss to Jordan Johnson
Light HeavyweightOther
January 28, 2017
Da Silva lost to Jordan Johnson via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on FOX 23 on Saturday in Denver.
ANALYSIS
Da Silva looked like a guy who accepted this fight on two weeks notice. The fight was considerably more lopsided than the scores would indicate. The Brazilian's best round was the first, although even that was nothing to write home about. Da Silva has a lot of power (11 of his 12 career wins are via KO), but his defense is suspect and you can overwhelm him with volume, which is exactly what Johnson did on Saturday. Da Silva has now lost back-to-back fights - the first two setbacks of his career.
Added as replacement at UFC Denver
Light HeavyweightOther
January 12, 2017
Da Silva will step in to face Jordan Johnson at UFC Denver on Jan. 28, replacing Josh Stansbury following his withdrawal.
ANALYSIS
Da Silva suffered his first career loss to Paul Craig back on Dec. 17, but the 27-year-old Brazilian will waste little time getting back into the Octagon. He'll take on a newcomer in Johnson that owns a 6-0 record, albeit in lesser promotions.
Suffers first pro loss Saturday against Paul Craig
Light HeavyweightOther
December 17, 2016
da Silva lost to Paul Craig via submission (armbar) at 1:59 of Round 2 at UFC on FOX 22 on Saturday in Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Let's just say that the first loss of da Silva's professional career was a struggle. Outside of a takedown that earned him a few minutes of control time, the Brazilian spent the entire fight getting pounded by the debuting Craig. da Silva seemed defeated in his corner in between Rounds 1 and 2 and he was promptly tapping out before the second frame was even two minutes old. da Silva had won his first two UFC contests prior to Saturday's setback.
