DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Kenta Maeda, LAD vs. SF ($9,300): Maeda isn't the pitcher the Giants want to see while they attempt to keep their heads above water in the NL West, as he hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in a start since July 17. He also throws ground balls at a 44 percent clip, which should play well against San Francisco's 33 percent fly ball rate.

Zack Greinke ARI at SD ($8,300): Greinke has been prone to the disaster outing this season, but he has pitched pretty well in the margins, allowing three runs or less in 11 of his last 14 starts. The Padres remain the worst team in the league against righties according to wOBA, and strike out against them a whopping 25 percent of the time.

CATCHER

Brian McCann, NYY at TB ($3,500): McCann's slugging percentage has been on a steady decline in the second half of the season, but his 45 percent fly ball rate should give him an advantage against Alex Cobb's extreme ground ball tendencies. It is also worth noting that McCann holds a runs above average score of 3.8 against the changeup, a pitch Cobb has thrown 34 percent of the time.

FIRST BASE

Jefry Marte, LAA at TEX ($3,800): Opposing starter Derek Holland has allowed a .477 slugging percentage and a 35 percent hard contact rate against righties this season over 81.1 innings. Meanwhile, Marte has generated a decent amount of power against lefties, notching a .222 ISO in 36 games.

SECOND BASE

T.J Rivera, NYM vs. ATL ($3,100): Rivera has hammered right-handed pitching since being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas in early August, having notched a .652 slugging percentage over 46 at-bats. DFS players will have a lot of opportunities against inexperienced starters like Ryan Weber as we close out the final month of the season. He has tallied a 5.46 ERA in 15 games, with all but one of those appearances coming out of the bullpen.

THIRD BASE

Kris Bryant, CHC vs. CIN ($4,500):Robert Stephenson's control has abandoned him against righties this season, contributing to a 5.70 xFIP. Bryant has shown a bit more power against lefties this year, but his .249 ISO against righties makes him a solid pick in this matchup.

SHORTSTOP

Sean Rodriguez, PIT at MIL ($4,000): While not the biggest name in the Pittsburgh lineup, Rodriguez and his .255 ISO can be a nice asset in the right situation. Jimmy Nelson has notched a 4.81 xFIP over 169 innings this season, while keeping a hard contact rate over 32 percent.

OUTFIELD

J.D. Martinez, DET at MIN ($4,400): The saga of Jose Berrios continues. The top Minnesota prospect has been hammered during his time with the big club, pitching to an 8.88 ERA and 2.2 HR/9 rate over 48.2 innings. Martinez has a .246 ISO and a 39 percent hard contact rate against righties this year.

Ian Desmond, TEX vs. LAA ($4,200):Jered Weaver has looked sharp of late, but we still need to look to exploit the matchup at Globe Life Park, as he has allowed 13 homers over his last eight starts. Desmond has performed well at home this season, notching a .333/.371/.510 batting line in 72 games.

Max Kepler, MIN vs. DET ($4,100):Buck Farmer has been hurt by the platoon in his limited time at the major league level this season, as evidenced by his .543 slugging percentage against lefties. Kepler's power has tailed off a bit, but he still holds a solid .228 ISO against righty pitchers.

Other options: Jake Lamb, ARI at SD ($4,400); Mark Trumbo, BAL vs. BOS ($4,600); Bryce Harper, WAS at MIA ($4,600)
