PITCHER
Chris Archer, TB vs. NYY ($7,900): Archer has failed to duplicate last year's breakout campaign, though he has still shown flashes of brilliance with an astronomical 11.2 K/9. While his other numbers may look a bit ugly on the whole, Tampa's ace has actually been terrific in four home starts with just four earned runs allowed and 32 strikeouts in in 23 innings. Look for that trend of strong pitching at Tropicana Field to continue against a Yankees offense that has failed to live up to its Bronx Bombers nickname and currently ranks 23rd in runs scored.
Jon Lester, CHC vs. PHI ($10,700): Lester turned in his worst performance of the season in San Francisco last time out, but he'll get a terrific opportunity to bounce back against the second-worst offense in baseball. The veteran has quietly held the opposition to zero or one run in six of nine starts this season, and he has the league's second-best offense behind him to bail him out should extended run support be necessary for a victory. Make sure to clear enough cap room to get Lester because he's about as close as you can get to a sure thing in this matchup.
CATCHER
Jonathan Lucroy, MIL vs. CIN ($3,600): While Lucroy hasn't put it together against lefties this season, his .355 career wOBA against them suggests it's only a matter of time before he starts hitting them hard again. The Brewers catcher will have a perfect opportunity to pick up the pace with second-year pro John Lamb on the mound for the Reds, as the winless pitcher has allowed a .371 wOBA to right-handed bats this year.
FIRST BASE
Chris Davis, BAL at CLE ($4,400): Davis has pummeled right-handed pitching all year, and Trevor Bauer doesn't rank highly on the intimidation scale as far as opposing starters are concerned. While the Orioles slugger has posted a .375 wOBA against righties, Bauer has been much more vulnerable against left-handed bats than in righty-on-righty matchups. The first baseman's tremendous power gives him an incredibly high ceiling in favorable matchups like this one, as he's capable of carrying lineups to victory nearly on his own.
SECOND BASE
Derek Dietrich, MIA at ATl ($3,400): Dietrich is oozing with value in this appetizing matchup against Braves starter Williams Perez. While the second-year pitcher has been fairly effective against right-handed bats, lefties have feasted on him throughout his short career to the tune of a .359 wOBA. The Marlins second baseman has been far better than your average lefty with a .387 wOBA against righties this season, and he comes with three consecutive multi-hit games.
THIRD BASE
Nick Castellanos, DET at OAK ($4,600): While Castellanos has been terrific against all sorts of pitching this season, he's likely to do more damage against lefties considering his career .345 wOBA against them is .033 higher than his mark against the other side. The Detroit third baseman will have an excellent opportunity to deliver against A's southpaw Sean Manaea, who's allowing a .402 wOBA to right-handed bats in his rookie season. Hitting in the heart of a stacked Detroit lineup should allow Castellanos to do major damage.
SHORTSTOP
Elvis Andrus, TEX vs. PIT ($3,800): Andrus comes in riding an 11-game hit streak, and he's likely to make it 12 with lefty Jon Niese on the mound for the Pirates. The Venezuelan has socked southpaws to the tune of a .373 wOBA this season, while Niese is giving up a lofty .380 mark to right-handed hitters.
OUTFIELD
Matt Kemp, SD at ARI ($4,100): Kemp's stats have been weighed down tremendously by playing home games at Petco Park, as 21 of his 30 RBI and 14 of his 20 runs scored have come on the road. He'll be in about as good a hitter's park as can be found at the MLB level in Arizona's Chase Field, and he gets to face lefty Robbie Ray to boot. Given the veteran's .345 wOBA against left-handed pitching this season, he should be in for yet another productive outing away from San Diego.
Ichiro Suzuki, MIA at ATL ($2,400): Ichiro is unlikely to deliver massive power numbers, but the resurgent veteran is in position to do some damage in terms of hits and runs. He has 10 base knocks in five games since moving into the leadoff role on a more permanent basis, and it has already been mentioned that Braves starter Williams Perez has trouble dealing with left-handed hitters. While his upside is limited due to a lack of propensity for extra-base hits, Ichiro brings a very high floor and consistent production, especially for an option in this price range.
J.D. Martinez, DET at OAK ($4,700): Martinez has backed up last year's terrific .385 wOBA against southpaws with a .368 mark this season. He also comes in with five homers, nine runs scored and 10 RBI over his last 10 games. It's tough to find another option with this combination of momentum and opportunity regardless of position or price, especially with underwhelming rookie Sean Manaea on the mound for Oakland.
