Yahoo DFS Baseball: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Pitcher

Jacob deGrom, NYM vs. SD ($48): The team may be crumbling around him but deGrom remains a rock for the Mets, as evidenced by his 2.35 ERA and 24 percent strikeout rate. The Padres will enter the contest with the lowest wOBA in the league against righties while also carrying a strikeout rate higher than 24 percent.

Tyler Anderson, COL at PHI ($38): Anderson is changing the way we think about Colorado pitchers, having notched a 3.04 ERA while allowing just six home runs over 68 innings. Anderson's strikeout rate takes a bit of a dip on the road but he draws a nice matchup against the Phillies, who hold the lowest wOBA in the league against lefties.

Catcher

Salvador Perez, KC at MIN ($8): Tyler Duffey was terrific in his last outing against the Astros but is still carrying a home run rate of 2.3 HR/9 over 50 innings versus righties. Perez represents a nice value play who can do damage, as he will bring a 48 percent flyball rate against Duffey's extreme groundball tendencies.

First Base

David Ortiz, BOS vs. ARI ($18): Ortiz may not be priced like a top-tier first baseman, but he is still hitting like one. This is particularly true against righties, as he sports a .673 slugging percentage over 278 at-bats against them. Opposing starter Archie Bradley has been busted up by lefties, allowing 1.7 HR/9 and keeping a 14 percent walk rate.

Second Base

Neil Walker, NYM vs. SD ($18): Jarred Cosart has walked more batters than he has struck out this season while tallying a 5.79 ERA over six starts. We will be focusing on his extraordinary 61 percent groundball rate, as Walker hits the ball in the air at a 45 percent clip.

Third Base

Jake Lamb, ARI at BOS ($12): Lamb draws a matchup against Clay Buchholz, who is making his first start in more than a month. Buchholz has had a rough go of it in the rotation this year, logging a 6.31 ERA across 71.1 innings. Lamb has destroyed righties this season, notching a .623 slugging percentage over 101 games.

Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs. LAA ($15): The 22-year-old represents a nice alternative for those not willing to pay top dollar for Jonathan Villar. Lindor has logged a .349 wOBA against righties while Matt Shoemaker has an xFIP over 4.00 and a hard contact rate of 32 percent against left-handed hitters.

Outfield

Ian Desmond, TEX vs. DET ($12): Desmond has been in a bit of a slump coming out of the All-Star break but still holds an impressive .371/.395/.578 batting line with six home runs in 116 at-bats against lefties. Matt Boyd has struggled mightily away from Comerica Park this season, as his ERA on the road is approaching 7.00 over 23.1 innings.

Carlos Beltran, TEX vs. DET ($16): The Rangers have so many powerful righties that it is difficult to choose just one, so we will look to form something of a mini-stack against Boyd. Beltran's resurgence in 2016 has come primarily from the right side of the plate, as he has tallied a .637 slugging percentage and a 40 percent hard contact rate against lefties.

Adam Duvall, CIN at MIL ($14): Duvall's power numbers against righties just keep getting better, as he is the owner of a .300 ISO after launching his 27th homer of the season Friday against Jimmy Nelson. Zach Davies has registered a 48 percent groundball rate this season, which could allow Duvall and his extreme flyball profile to take another ball over the fence.

Other Options: Melky Cabrera, CWS at MIA ($15) Jackie Bradley Jr., BOS vs. ARI ($16) Khris Davis, OAK vs. SEA ($17)
