FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Jameson Taillon, PIT vs. HOU ($7,500): While he'll cost a ton, it does make some sense to pay up for Jon Lester ($11,000) in Petco Park against a team that strikes out at a 25 percent clip against southpaws. Looking at a good mid-level value for this short slate, Taillon fits the bill. He's established a solid floor hitting at least 24 fantasy points in each of his last seven starts and has hit 45 and 48 over that span, showing there's a high ceiling as well. The Astros are in the midst of a seven-game road trip, coming off a rain-delayed game in Baltimore that probably doesn't put them at 100 percent. Houston strikes out the third most in baseball against right-handed pitching at 23.9 percent, setting up things nicely for Taillon.

CATCHER

Gary Sanchez, NYY at SEA ($2,700): Sanchez was 0-for-3 Sunday with a walk, but he's finally moved up into the three spot for the Yankees. He has reached based in seven consecutive games and before Sunday had scored at least 18.7 fantasy points in five of his last six games. His opponent, Cody Martin, is far from a top prospect, and Martin's strikeout rate (4.40 K/9IP) and 1.40 WHIP suggest he could be in line to give up some runs.

FIRST BASE

Mike Napoli, CLE at OAK ($3,500): Napoli got a well-deserved day off Sunday and has had a nice comeback season. He's been a clutch hitter for the Indians out of the cleanup spot and with 29 home runs should easily eclipse his career-high 30 by a long shot. He's scored positive fantasy points in 20 consecutive games and has a .352 wOBA this season against right-handed pitching. He has a good matchup against Andrew Triggs, who has a 4.98 ERA and, at 27, isn't about to break out.

SECOND BASE

Logan Forsythe, TB vs. BOS ($3,500): When he went on the DL and then came back it was easy for DFS owners to forget about how good Forsythe is, especially against left-handed pitching. He also fits the category of being a "hot-hand" play given that he's homered in three straight games and six of his last 10. He's been a fixture in the leadoff spot for the Rays and while at first glance it looks like a fade, the matchup against David Price isn't the worst. Forsythe owns a .373 wOBA against lefties this season.

THIRD BASE

Jake Lamb, ARI vs. ATL ($3,300): Everything appears to be working in Lamb's favor as he'll be in the friendly confines of Chase Field facing a right-handed pitcher. At home this season Lamb has a .418 wOBA against righties, and Mike Foltynewicz has given up a .389 wOBA on the road to left-handed hitters. While not the cheapest price, 10 others are at this price point or higher.

SHORTSTOP

Addison Russell, CHC at SD ($3,000): Russell fits the "hot-hand" bill as he's been in a good RBI spot for the Cubs (hitting five hole) and has at least nine fantasy points in eight of his last 10 games. Edwin Jackson isn't the second coming of Nolan Ryan and has a .362 wOBA at home against right-handed hitters. Don't sleep on the Cubs hitters in Petco against Jackson.

OUTFIELD

David Dahl, COL at MIL ($3,500): Dahl has done nothing but rake since getting called up, and the Rockies have put him in the leadoff spot the last couple games. He's reached base safely in every one of his 26 games, and his .945 OPS shows some power is there, as well. Dahl gets Jimmy Nelson, who has given up a .345 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season.

Gregory Polanco, PIT vs. HOU ($3,200):
This price seems to cheap for Polanco given that he has a .382 wOBA at home this season against right-handed pitching. The Astros will start Doug Fister, who has struggled lately and appears to be wearing down. Fister has a 5.20 ERA (1.66 WHIP) over the last month and has given up a home run in each of his last three starts. Polanco should be hitting cleanup, a good spot for RBI opportunities in this offense.

Norichika Aoki, SEA vs. NYY (2,700):
Aoki has been a staple at the leadoff spot for the Mariners and finally that is paying off. He has a 1.096 OPS over the last week and has hit right-handed pitchers much better this season and for his career. Michael Pineda has given up a .378 wOBA to left-handed hitters on the road this season, though he does have the revenge factor working in his favor.
