DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Ian Kennedy, KC vs. NYY ($9,400): Kennedy has been on fire of late, allowing just five runs over his last 39.1 innings (six starts). The 31-year-old will look to continue his run of success against the Yankees, who are tied for the fourth-lowest wOBA in the league away from home.

Bartolo Colon, NYM vs. MIA ($6,700): Colon's style of pounding the strike zone should serve him well against the Marlins, who come in tied for the second-lowest ISO against right-handed pitchers. Colon should also benefit from his ground ball tendencies, as The Fish hit the fewest fly balls in the game by percentage.

CATCHER

Cameron Rupp, PHI vs. WAS ($3,200): Rupp's exploits against lefty pitching should make him a consideration for those playing the main slate, as he has tallied a .305 ISO against his opposite hand. Gio Gonzalez has allowed a hard contact rate of nearly 36 percent to right-handers over 115.1 innings.

FIRST BASE

Freddie Freeman, ATL vs. SD ($5,100): Opposing starter Paul Clemens has been unable to find the plate against lefties, walking more than 11 percent of the southpaws he has faced over 18 innings. Freeman should have a leg up on Clemens, as he has a 6.2 runs above average mark against the curveball, a pitch the 28-year-old throws nearly 33 percent of the time.

SECOND BASE

Devon Travis, TOR at BAL ($4,900): Travis has mashed right-handed pitchers to the tune of a .204 ISO. He has also notched a runs above average score of 4.3 against the slider, a pitch starter Yovani Gallardo throws nearly 30 percent of the time.

THIRD BASE

Jefry Marte, LAA vs. CIN ($3,200): Marte doesn't get much love in most fantasy circles, but the 25-year-old has shown a considerable amount of power against lefties, notching a .245 ISO over 49 at-bats. Brandon Finnegan is beginning to look like the sleeper he was projected to be in spring training, but he has still allowed 26 homers to righties in just 112.2 innings.

SHORTSTOP

Danny Espinosa, WAS at PHI ($4,500):Adam Morgan appears to be little more than a stopgap in the Phillies' rotation, as he has pitched to a 6.50 ERA over 80.1 innings, allowing 20 home runs over that span. Espinosa is hitting just .212 from the right side of the plate, but he also sports a .269 ISO over 104 at-bats.

OUTFIELD

Brandon Guyer, CLE vs. MIN ($4,300): Before logging a 6.24 ERA over 12 major league outings (seven starts), the boys at Triple-A Rochester hung a 5.56 ERA on Pat Dean in 87.1 innings. That should be reason enough to stack against him, but those wishing to be selective will note that Guyer has a 1.014 OPS against left-handed pitchers.

Brandon Moss, STL at MIL ($5,300):Matt Garza holds one of the most extreme ground ball profiles among starters, as he keeps the ball out of the air 54 percent of the time. Facing Garza in Miller Park looks like a dream matchup for Moss, who holds a fly ball rate of better than 50 percent.

Alex Dickerson, SD at ATL ($3,400): Opposing starter Matt Wisler had one of the most successful outings of his career against the Diamondbacks last week, but we shouldn't let that deter us from picking against him, as he still has a 5.38 xFIP against lefty hitters. Dickerson hasn't hit for average against either side of the platoon, but he does hold a .224 ISO against righties.

Other options: Ryan Braun, MIL vs. STL ($5,000); Michael Saunders, TOR at BAL ($4,800); Sean Rodriguez, PIT at CHC ($4,600)
