FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Amir Garrett, CIN at MIL ($7,700): Now that Milwaukee's hot streak has come to an end, we can safely target pitchers that face them. Just like Mike Leake was a solid option Sunday, Garrett is also a nice mid-level option on this slate. Garrett is off to a nice start for Cincinnati, with a 1.83 ERA and 21 strikeouts in just under 20 innings. Milwaukee has some intimidating hitters in its lineup, but those same guys that intimidate also strike out at a healthy rate. Milwaukee has the worst K% against lefties this season at 30.2%.

CATCHER

Yasmani Grandal, LAD at SF ($2,800): The Dodgers will face another right-hander in Matt Cain and that's been a winning proposition more often than not this year for them. Grandal is an entirely different player when batting from the left-side this season as his wOBA is .183 higher than from the right. Opposing hitters posted a .386 wOBA against Cain last season.

FIRST BASE

Anthony Rizzo, CHC at PIT ($4,400): Last season, opposing lefties posted a .363 wOBA against Chad Kuhl and this year, that number is .419. Rizzo got off to a slow start, but he's shifted into hyper drive over the past week. Rizzo has a 12-game hitting streak and he's hit a home run in three straight games. With Kuhl's overall performance this season, I wouldn't stack the Cubs, but Rizzo is certainly one guy to lock in.

SECOND BASE

Daniel Murphy, WAS at COL ($4,200): What might be the best lineup in baseball gets a crack at Coors field, and while it would be nice to stack the Nationals, there's just no way to fit four of their best hitters into your lineup. Murphy enters with a .389 wOBA against lefties this season. Add the Coors Field factor in, and you've got a recipe for a big game.

SHORTSTOP

Eduardo Escobar, MN at TEX ($2,400):Martin Perez takes the mound for the Rangers and if you are looking for a sneaky stack, the right-handed Twins might be a good option. At the lower end of that stack sits Escobar, who is nowhere near the most dangerous Twin, but he has the highest wOBA against lefties this season on the team. Escobar's overall numbers aren't impressive, but that is mostly due to his deficiencies as a left-handed hitter.

THIRD BASE

Joey Gallo, TEX vs. MN ($3,100):Phil Hughes takes the mound for the Twins as they face the Rangers and although hopes were high for Hughes after an impressive first start, expectations have come back down to Earth after two subpar outings. Hughes has struggled against lefties the past couple seasons and Gallo is the lefty most likely to take advantage. Gallo has four home runs in his past five games and his season wOBA against righties is .393, which is second best on the Rangers.

OUTFIELD

Bryce Harper, WAS at COL ($5,500): Harper is hitting lefties at an extremely high level this season and again, this game is being played at Coors Field, so the matchup justifies the price. Harper's wOBA against lefties sits at .717 and although this number will come down throughout the season, it will likely go up while the Nationals are in Colorado.

David Peralta, AZ vs. SD ($3,000):Jhoulys Chacin takes the hill for the Padres against the team he shut down last week. Chacin has yet to give up a run at home this season, but on the road it's been a different story. Perhaps he's comfortable pitching in San Diego, but whatever the case, pitching in Arizona is an entirely different beast. It's almost unheard of for a subpar pitcher to shut down the same team in consecutive starts, so you know the Diamondbacks will get to him — it's just a matter of which ones. Peralta is on fire right now, with 14 hits in his past six games. He also bats from the left side and Chacin struggles with lefties.

Joc Pederson, LAD at SF ($2,400): Pederson is getting comfortable at the top of the lineup and is becoming a force against righties. As long as Pederson stays at the top of this lineup against righties and his price stays under $3,000, he's a great pick. While many Dodgers will be good options against Cain, Pederson will likely be the cheapest.
