FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Tyler Chatwood, COL at SD ($7,600): It's rare that Chatwood would be considered given where he usually pitches, but tonight is an exception. He gets to go on the road to an extreme pitcher's park and face off against a lineup that doesn't have a lot of pop. Chatwood was dominant away from Coors last season, posting a 1.69 ERA away while holding batters to a .253 wOBA. Meanwhile the Padres as a team have a .288 wOBA, the fourth worst mark in the majors.

Catcher

Travis d'Arnaud, NYM at ATL ($2,500): D'Arnaud has a ridiculous ceiling given that he's scored over 50 fantasy points twice already this season and has another 37.7 fantasy point effort as well. D'Arnaud is very familiar with his opponent, R.A. Dickey, and should be able to take advantage of the matchup. Dickey gave up a .337 wOBA to right-handed hitters last season and that mark is up to .358 to start this season.

First Base

Matt Carpenter, STL vs MIL ($3,800): This isn't a cheap price but there are plenty of reasons to use Carpenter tonight. He comes into the game hot, scoring 20 or more fantasy points in three of his last five with two home runs, two doubles and 10 RBI. He's also had past success against Wily Peralta, going 20-for-43 with nine extra base hits. Peralta has a 5.19 ERA this season and gave up a .374 wOBA to left-handed hitters last season.

Second Base

Alexi Amarista, COL at SD ($2,100): First, make sure Amarista is in the starting lineup before deploying him tonight. Second base is a tough position to find any value tonight and it's probably best to pay up for a stud here. However, Amarista is worth considering given what he's done in limited action this season and his history with Trevor Cahill. Amarista has gone 7-for-17 against Cahill with two doubles and a home run, putting the infielder in play tonight.

Shortstop

Adam Frazier, PIT at CIN ($2,600): Frazier has been in the leadoff spot against right-handed pitching this season and gets a park upgrade in Cincinnati tonight. He's batting .306 and faces Scott Feldman, whose 3.25 ERA seems out of whack with his career numbers. Feldman had a .377 wOBA against left-handed hitter last season, making Frazier a great play.

Third Base

Manny Machado, BAL at BOS ($2,900): This is easily the lowest price you'll see for Machado this season. He's too talented of a hitter at this price despite going up against Chris Sale. Machado has scored at least 12.2 fantasy points in his last four games and at some point Sale is going to have an off night.

Outfield

Matt Holliday, NYY vs TOR ($3,000): Holliday is the cheapest Yankee outfielder tonight despite homering in two of his last four games. This is all about the matchup, as Mat Latos isn't close to being the pitcher he once was. Last season he gave up a .358 wOBA to right-handed hitters and that this is his sixth team since 2015 says a lot about him as a player and teammate.

Justin Upton, DET vs CLE ($3,500): A quick look at this matchup and it would seem wise to avoid hitters facing Corey Kluber. However, this is a pick for those who believe in batter vs pitcher numbers as Upton has had a lot of success against Kluber, going 5-for-12 against the right-hander with three home runs and two doubles. In addition, Upton is hitting .349 over the last two weeks with four home runs, three doubles and 12 RBI.

Scott Schebler, CIN vs PIT ($3,500): Schebler has come on strong for the Reds, hitting five home runs in his last seven games and getting the favorable lefty vs righty pitching matchup tonight. Tyler Glasnow has been shelled to start the season, giving up 13 earned runs and 13 walks in only 14.2 innings. Last season Schebler had a respectable .339 wOBA against right-handed pitching, a number that has jumped to .384 this season.
