FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Scott Feldman, CIN at PHI ($7,200): Feldman has been the quintessential tournament play, scoring 52 fantasy points in two starts and between 25 and 46 in three others. On the other hand, he's also turned in tallies of zero and five fantasy points in another pair of outings, but he projects to be in a good position for one of his stronger returns Sunday. The Phillies check in with a .306 wOBA and 22.1 percent strikeout rate against right-handed pitching, including a .303 wOBA versus that handedness at home. Feldman also scored 23 fantasy points in just 4.2 innings against them in his first start of the season back on April 3.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KAN at CLE ($3,300): Perez boasts a .531 batting average, eight doubles, a homer and six RBI over 32 career at-bats against Indians starter Josh Tomlin, who's given up a .422 wOBA at home, including .538 to right-handed hitters. Perez has a .401 wOBA against right-handed pitching, including a .462 wOBA versus that handedness away from Kauffman Stadium. Furthermore, Tomlin has surrendered a robust 33.3 percent line drive rate to righty bats at home, while Perez boasts a .598 wOBA on the 14 liners he's hit this season and sports a 43.5 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching overall.

FIRST BASE

Hanley Ramirez, BOS vs. SEA ($3,300): Mariners right-hander Christian Bergman has allowed a .477 wOBA to right-handed hitters, and a .738 wOBA, four homers and a 50.0 percent hard contact rate to the 30 righty bats he's seen on the road. Ramirez has a .385 wOBA at Fenway Park, including a .395 wOBA, 25.0 percent line drive rate and 45.0 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching at home. The Mariners' bullpen has also been generous to righty bats, giving up a .324 wOBA and majors-high 13 homers to that handedness this month.

SECOND BASE

Jed Lowrie, OAK at NYY ($2,300): Lowrie's near-minimum price seems out of whack for a player who's racked up double-digit fantasy points in four of the last six games and who boasts a .411 wOBA, .235 ISO, 25.0 percent line drive rate and 40.3 percent hard contact rate over 95 plate appearances this month. The switch-hitting veteran has also pounded right-handed pitching for a .407 wOBA, all six of his homers and a 40.5 percent hard contact rate, while Yankees starter Michael Pineda has given up a 31.3 percent hard contact rate to left-handed hitters at home.

THIRD BASE

Evan Longoria, TAM at MIN ($2,900): Longoria draws a matchup against Twins starter Kyle Gibson, who's yielded a .459 wOBA at Target Field this season, including a .479 wOBA to right-handed hitters. He's also allowing a 25.0 percent line drive rate and 38.6 percent hard contact rate to righty bats, while Longoria has a .324 wOBA and 36.1 percent hard contact rate versus righty arms. He's also hit the ball well this month, compiling a 40.7 percent hard contact rate over 103 plate appearances.

SHORTSTOP

Zack Cozart, CIN at PHI ($3,500): Following a 4-for-4 afternoon Saturday that yielded 37.2 fantasy points, Cozart's season line sits at .355/.433/.592. He has a .441 wOBA against right-handed pitching on the road, along with a 32.5 percent hard contact rate. Phillies starter Zach Eflin has given up a .361 wOBA at home and an 8.22 ERA and .435 wOBA over four May starts. Phillies relievers have been vulnerable to righty bats as well, surrendering a .328 wOBA and 17 round trippers to that handedness.

OUTFIELD

Keon Broxton, MIL vs. ARI ($3,300): D-Backs starter Patrick Corbin has yielded a .365 wOBA to right-handed hitters, including a .451 wOBA to the 56 righty bats he's faced outside of Chase Field. After a strong opening month of the season, he's also been heading in the wrong direction, posting a 7.77 ERA and allowing a .420 wOBA and 44.9 percent hard contact rate in 22.0 innings across his last four starts. Broxton boasts a .383 wOBA and 46.2 percent hard contact rate versus southpaws at Miller Park, along with a .402 wOBA, 38.8 percent line drive rate and matching 38.8 percent hard contact rate over 83 plate appearances this month. When Corbin exits, Broxton will also face an Arizona bullpen that's given up 14 homers to right-handed hitters.

David Peralta, ARI at MIL ($3,300): Peralta makes for an appealing value play given his .365 wOBA and 38.5 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching, as well as his .500 average, double and homer against Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson over his career. Nelson has also given up a .359 wOBA at Miller Park, including .351 to lefty hitters.

Avisail Garcia, CWS vs. DET ($3,000): Garcia has a .500 batting average, one homer and two RBI over eight career encounters with Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann, who's surrendered a .372 wOBA to right-handed hitters, and a .378 wOBA overall in 23 road innings. Zimmermann is also due for some regression against righty bats away from Comerica Park, as his 6.13 xFIP on the road versus that handedness has been offset by an unsustainable .186 BABIP. Meanwhile, Garcia has compiled a .426 wOBA at home, including .462 wOBA versus righties. Furthermore, when Zimmermann exits, Garcia will face off against a Detroit bullpen that's given up a majors-high 19 homers and 46.6 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters.
