FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Mike Leake, STL vs. MIL ($8,000): Leake has undoubtedly struggled of late, allowing 11 runs over his last three starts, spanning 18.2 frames, but he still sits with a 2.70 ERA, showing how great he was early in the year. The Cards are heavy Vegas favorites against the Brew Crew and Matt Garza, who is set to be activated from he disabled list in time to start. Milwaukee has only scored 51 runs in 13 June games and is coming off a doubleheader Tuesday. They've struck out at a 28.1 percent rate this month and have just a .308 wOBA as a unit.

Catcher

Ryan Hanigan, COL at PHI ($2,200): Hanigan is a purely speculative play with very minimal risk. Tony Wolters has caught three straight games and seems due for a day off, and Hanigan would benefit from a matchup with a very hittable Chad Kuhl and his 5.63 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Wolters makes for an equally enticing play if he's in the lineup at $2,800.

First Base

Anthony Rizzo, CHC at NYM ($4,100): Rizzo is finding his stride, with his long ball Tuesday night stretching his hitting streak to eight games, a span where he's also walked nine times and homered twice. The Cubs struggles as a team paired with Rizzo's surge have pushed the slugger into the leadoff spot, giving him additional opportunities for damage. His .356 wOBA and 120 wRC+ against righties figures to play well against Mets starter Matt Harvey, who is allowing left-handers to post an identical wOBA.

Second Base

Robinson Cano, SEA at MIN ($3,100): Cano has just one double-digit fantasy-point outing in his last nine games, which, when paired with his matchup with Twins' ace Ervin Santana, has pushed his price way down. He carries a .369 wOBA against righties versus .295 against righties and owns a .333 (14-of-42) average against Santana, with six of those knocks going over the fence and two more going for extra bases.

Third Base

Adrian Beltre, TEX at HOU ($3,700): Picking any Ranger may be the best play Wednesday against Astros rookie Francis Martes, who allowed four runs in 3.2 innings in his debut after posting a 5.57 ERA at Triple-A prior to his recall. Beltre's 37 plate appearances against righties since returning from injury have been quite productive to the tune of a .400 wOBA, 150 wRC+ and .951 OPS, and he's hit safely in all but one appearance, suggesting a safe floor with a stable ceiling.

Shortstop

Elvis Andrus, TEX at HOU ($3,400): Andrus offers a nice medium where he's not a top-priced option at arguably the weakest position, but he also comes in with good form. He saw a 15-game hitting streak snapped Monday, but his .351 wOBA and 116 wRC+ should play well from the 3-hole against the aforementioned Martes.

Outfield

Yoenis Cespedes, NYM vs CHC ($3,600): Cespedes has absolutely destroyed lefties to date, as he sports a .469 wOBA, 1.175 OPS and 197 wRC+. He'll square off against Cubs southpaw Mike Montgomery, who hasn't lasted more than four frames as a spot-starter.

Aaron Altherr, PHI vs. BOS ($2,900): Despite his recent struggles, Altherr still brings a .355 wOBA and 119 wRC+ against lefties into Wednesday. His price has fallen substantially, leaving little risk entering a matchup with Brian Johnson, who has 20 hits in his last 18.1 innings.

Gregor Blanco, ARI at DET ($2,900): Blanco has been thrust into the leadoff spot thanks to injuries, and it's resulted in him quietly reaching base 15 times in his last eight games. Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann brings a 1.49 WHIP into the game and is allowing a .404 wOBA to left-handed bats.
