FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Eduardo Rodriguez, BOS vs. TOR ($7,200): The Blue Jays have an AL-worst .246 wOBA and 49 wRC+ against southpaws on the road in the last month, along with a majors-low 12.3 percent hard contact rate. He compiled 31 fantasy points on the strength of an eight-strikeout performance against the Blue Jays on July 17. He also has a 10.5 K/9 at Fenway this season, boosting his upside.

CATCHER

Wilson Ramos, TAM vs. MIN ($2,400): Ramos is priced especially reasonably given his matchup against Bartolo Colon, who's allowed a .380 wOBA and 30.8 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters. Ramos has struggled against right-handed pitching this season but has been much better in recent weeks, posting a .333 wOBA over 45 plate appearances against righties since Aug. 15.

FIRST BASE

Albert Pujols, LAA at OAK ($3,300): Pujols owns a .364 average, including two homers and six RBI, against A's starter Kendall Graveman over 24 plate appearances, and a .525 wOBA over his first 20 plate appearances of September. Graveman has allowed a .369 wOBA and 34.7 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters, while A's relievers have allowed a .325 wOBA to right-handed hitters at home in the last 21 days.

SECOND BASE

Daniel Murphy, WAS at MIA ($3,400): Murphy makes for an appealing value play against Marlins starter Odrisamer Despaigne, who's allowed a .327 wOBA and 6.19 xFIP to lefty bats. Murphy has been lethal against righties on the road, posting a .427 wOBA, .277 ISO and 38.3 percent hard contact rate.

THIRD BASE

Luis Valbuena, LAA at OAK ($3,300): Valbuena's body of work against Graveman includes a .375 average over 20 plate appearances, and he's also compiled a .344 wOBA, .248 ISO and 37.4 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching on the road. Graveman has allowed a .327 wOBA to lefty bats on the season, and a .383 wOBA overall in five August starts.

SHORTSTOP

Paul DeJong, STL at SDP ($3,300): Padres southpaw Travis Wood has allowed a .368 wOBA (including nine homers) to right-handed hitters, while DeJong owns a .427 wOBA, .441 ISO, 41.7 percent HR/FB rate and 47.4 percent hard contact rate against lefties on the road.

OUTFIELD

Melky Cabrera, KAN at DET ($2,700): Cabrera has pounded Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez for a .429 average over 42 plate appearances, and he owns a .333 wOBA against right-handed pitching overall. Sanchez has allowed a .369 wOBA to lefty bats, along with a 36.6 percent hard contact rate when facing them at Comerica Park. Tigers relievers also have a 4.91 ERA and have allowed a .328 wOBA (including four homers) to left-handed hitters at home in the last 21 days.

Corey Dickerson, TAM vs. MIN ($2,900): Colon has been vulnerable to lefty bats as well, allowing a .387 wOBA (including 12 homers), 5.82 xFIP and 42.2 percent hard contact rate. Dickerson boasts a .345 wOBA and .235 ISO versus right-handed pitching, along with a 38.6 percent hard contact rate against that handedness on the road.

Jose Martinez, STL at SDP ($2,200): Martinez has been particularly effective in recent starts, making him an excellent value play against Wood, who's allowed a .368 wOBA (including nine homers) to right-handed hitters. Martinez counters with a .533 wOBA and .310 ISO against left-handed pitching outside of Busch Stadium.
