FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Dinelson Lamet, SDP vs STL ($8,400): Lamet has found a nice groove late in the season, owning a 2.54 August ERA, which he followed up by allowing only one run in his first start of September. He's been much better at home throughout the season (3.66 ERA vs. 5.16 away) where he has a sterling 31.2 strikeout rate while only walking batters 8.5 percent of the time, leading to only a .265 wOBA against.

Catcher

Jorge Alfaro/Cameron Rupp, PHI at NYM ($2,500): The Mets' haven't settled on a starter as of yet, but the Phillies catching duo can be swapped for each other at the same price depending on who starts, both for the Phils and Mets. Alfaro is the play if the Mets choose to go with righty Rob Gsellman, as he owns a .407 wOBA and 151 wRC+ against same-handed arms, while Rupp would be the preference if Tommy Milone starts, having posted a .351 wOBA and 115 wRC+ against opposite-handed pitching.

First Base

Ryan Zimmerman, WAS at MIA ($3,500): Zimmerman's power has disappeared, having gone deep only once since August 18. But he still carries a .339 ISO, .403 wOBA and 148 wRC+ against opposite-handed arms on the road. That gives him some upside that will certainly come with low ownership, and his matchup with an inexperienced Dillon Peters could return surprising production.

Second Base

Jose Ramirez, CLE at CWS ($3,700): Ramirez is in fine form at the moment, having hit seven homers in his last 12 games, dating back to August 24, while hitting .431 in that span. During this stretch, he's earned a .591 wOBA, 281 wRC+ and obsene .708 ISO against righties, giving him a chance to feast on Reynaldo Lopez, who has allowed a .411 wOBA and 1.015 OPS to left-handers.

Third Base

Cory Spangenburg, SDP vs. STL ($2,900): The Cardinals will trot Jack Flaherty out for his second start, and his first outing did not go well, as he allowed five runs and eight hits in 4.0 frames. Spangenburg comes at a nice discount at the hot corner, and has feasted on righties at Petco Park to the tune of a .400 wOBA, 151 wRC+ and .934 OPS.

Shortstop

Jose Reyes, NYM vs. PHI ($3,300): Reyes has been scortching hot since returning from the DL on August 26, going 13-for-35 (.371) with 12 runs scored and four stolen bases over 10 games. Phillies starter Nick Pivetta has a 6.98 road ERA, where he allows opposite-handed bats to post a .360 wOBA.

Outfield

Aaron Judge, NYY at BAL ($3,800): This seems like a decent spot to gamble on Judge, who's quietly hit safely in three straight and four of his last five. O's starter Kevin Gausman comes in with a 13.2 scoreless inning streak, but he's allowed 18 earned runs to the Yanks over 19.1 innings this season, including two homers to Judge. For all his recent struggles, Judge still sports a .381 wOBA on the road against right handers.

Josh Reddick, HOU at SEA ($3,700): Reddick has swung well of late, and his prowess against opposite-handed arms is well known in DFS circles. Since August 24, he's collected 18 hits in 38 at bats against righties, leading to a .428 wOBA, 174 wRC+ and 1.016 OPS. He figures to be in the middle of things against Mariners' starter Andrew Moore and his 6.34 ERA.

Alex Presley, DET vs. KAN ($2,500): Thanks in part to a woeful 2.5 percent walk rate, Presely's wOBA (.336) is nearly identical to his BA (.333) against opposite-handed arms since August 23, a date that has seen him collect 15 hits over 10 games. There's limited upside, but Presley should remain hot against Jason Hammel, who has allowed at least four runs in three of his last four starts while never making it out of the sixth inning.
