Yahoo DFS Baseball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Wednesday's 15-game MLB slate begins at 1:05 PM Eastern time. There are plenty of high-level pitching options to pick from here, but two of those stand out in particular. Electric Cardinals prospect Alex Reyes is a can't-miss option in his season debut at the highest level, while Arizona lefty Patrick Corbin is one of a few Diamondbacks primed for a big game.

PITCHER

Alex Reyes, STL at MIL ($44): If Reyes' rehab starts are any indication, his price is only going to skyrocket from here. Now 15 months removed from Tommy John surgery, St. Louis' top prospect has looked better than ever, racking up 44 strikeouts in 23 scoreless innings over his four rehab appearances. Even if that success doesn't carry over completely at the highest level, Reyes' upside is impossible to ignore against the middling Milwaukee offense.

Patrick Corbin, ARI vs. CIN ($51): The new humidor at Chase Field has slowed down the home side's offense, but it's also helped Corbin get to the next level on the mound. He's been spectacular at home this season, producing a 2.03 ERA while posting a 52:7 K:BB in 40 innings and holding hitters to a .199 wOBA. The 28-year-old southpaw should have few problems working through a Reds lineup that ranks 23rd with just 4.07 runs per game.

CATCHER

Mike Zunino, SEA vs. TEX ($14): Zunino has much more pop in his bat than your typical inexpensive catcher, as he's launched 33 home runs since the start of last season. He'll be licking his chops ahead of this matchup with Rangers lefty Matt Moore, who has allowed a .394 wOBA to the 178 right-handed hitters he's faced this season while pitching to a 7.99 ERA. You'll be hard-pressed to find better upside for the price at this position.

FIRST BASE

C.J. Cron, TB at OAK ($17): Cron's thrived against left-handed pitching this season, producing a .408 wOBA through 61 at-bats in that split. Expect Tampa Bay's two-hole hitter to keep the good times rolling against Oakland southpaw Sean Manaea, who has surrendered at least four earned runs in four of his past five starts and gave up three in the other.

SECOND BASE

Starlin Castro, MIA at SD ($13): Not many second basemen find themselves batting in the heart of their team's lineup, but Castro is an exception to that norm, as he vacillates between the three-hole and cleanup spot for Miami. While the right-handed slugger's wOBA against lefties is down from last season's .358 mark to .338, he's got an excellent chance to close that gap here against Clayton Richard. Richard's in the midst of a fifth consecutive campaign with a .345 or higher wOBA allowed to batters from the right side.

THIRD BASE

Jake Lamb, ARI vs. CIN ($19): Lamb owns a .358 career wOBA against right-handed pitching, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a more vulnerable righty than Cincinnati's Sal Romano. Romano has surrendered 18 earned runs in 12.2 innings over his past three starts, and left-handed hitters own a .424 wOBA against him through 122 plate appearances this season.

SHORTSTOP

Trevor Story, COL vs. SF ($20): As has been the case for plenty of Colorado's hitters over the years, Story has performed significantly better at home this season -- his wOBA at Coors Field is .480 while his mark elsewhere is a putrid .247. The right-handed slugger is also mashing lefties much better than righties, producing a .467 wOBA against the former while sitting at just .280 versus the latter. Put those two strengths together, and you get a whopping .694 home wOBA against lefties in 28 such at-bats for Story this season. Giants southpaw Derek Holland is allowing a .342 wOBA to right-handed hitters after surrendering a .408 mark last season, so he's unlikely to slow Story down.

OUTFIELD

David Peralta, ARI vs. CIN ($14): Stacking left-handed Arizona batters is highly recommended given Romano's aforementioned struggles in that split. Peralta's also proven himself quite capable of handling right-handed pitching, as he's on pace for a second consecutive season with a wOBA over .350 against righties.

Michael Conforto, NYM at ATL ($17): Braves starter Julio Teheran has never quite felt comfortable at SunTrust Park, as evidenced by his 5.79 ERA in 22 starts in the Georgia-based venue. The right-hander has also struggled with the long ball of late, allowing five over his past three appearances. Conforto's a strong candidate to add to Teheran's struggles, as the young outfielder has a .378 career wOBA against right-handed pitching and a .363 mark this season.

Matt Joyce, OAK vs. TB ($10): Owners hoping to fit both Reyes and Corbin into their lineups need to find affordable options at other positions, and Joyce is one of those at $10. The left-handed slugger is primed to contribute despite his low valuation, as he's built up a .349 career wOBA against right-handed pitching. Joyce will be facing a vulnerable righty here, as Rays starter Nathan Eovaldi will be making his first major-league appearance since Aug. 10, 2016. Back in the 2016 campaign, left-handed batters produced a .367 wOBA against Eovaldi.
