Officially transfers to Washington
QBNo Current School
February 6, 2018
Eason officially transferred to Washington on Tuesday, Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports reports.
Considering that Eason is a Lake Stevens, Wash. native, a return to the Northwest was always a likelihood after he announced in January that he would be transferring from Georgia. However, nothing was officially set in stone until Tuesday when the school made the announcement. Eason, a former five-star talent regarded by most recruiting services as the top quarterback in the Class of 2016, started 12 games as a true freshman for the Bulldogs and won the starting gig in 2017 before suffering a knee injury in the season opener against Appalachian State. His injury opened the door for freshman Jake Fromm to take over a starting role that he never relinquished en route to leading Georgia to a Rose Bowl victory. Eason's transfer to Washington makes plenty of sense for both parties. Washington will be able to groom Eason while he sits out the 2018 season, per NCAA transfer rules, and get him ready to start in 2019 once Jake Browning is gone. For Eason, the move to Washington not only puts him closer to where he grew up, but it also puts him in position to run a pro-style offense that will boost his draft stock when the time comes. Eason will have two years of eligibility remaining after the 2018 season.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
Eason enrolled at Georgia in January with expectations of him becoming the next Matt Stafford. After last season’s shoddy quarterback play from Greyson Lambert/Brice Ramsey/Faton Bauta, the clamoring for a shiny new quarterback isn’t surprising. The noise surrounding Eason only got louder after his impressive showing in the spring game that made him look like he was already the best quarterback on campus. Once Eason steps in, expectations should be tempered given that he’ll be going against fierce SEC defenses as a true freshman.
