David Montgomery
Running BackRB
Iowa State Cyclones
2018 Fantasy Outlook
Iowa State's offense skews toward the passing game, but that doesn't stop Montgomery from being a significant producer. He took 258 carries for 1,146 yards and 11 scores and was a prolific pass catcher with 36 grabs on 48 targets. Montgomery is unchallenged in the ISU backfield, having accounted for 67 percent of the Cyclones' running back rushes. He'll be facing mostly porous Big 12 run defenses, so Montgomery could surpass his middling 4.4 YPC from 2017 while pushing for 300 total touches. The workload and potential for improvement make him a top tier RB. Read Past Outlooks
Heads to NFL
RBIowa State
January 7, 2019
Montgomery will skip his senior season at Iowa State to enter the 2019 NFL draft, Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register reports.
Montgomery put together another strong campaign in 2018, producing his second consecutive season with over 1,000 rushing yards and double-digit touchdowns. He'll take his talents to the NFL now, and although he doesn't have the same breakaway speed as other running backs, scouts like his ability to use his sturdy frame to break tackles from smaller defenders and get extra yards after contact.
