Rebounds in spring game
QBMiami
April 22, 2019
Martell was the only quarterback to show success against the first team defense in Saturday's spring game, Manny Navarro of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Martell has struggled at times coming into the Hurricanes' offense and learning how to be under center, but Saturday the coaches let him operate out of the shotgun and he shined as a result. He opened the game with a drive down the field against the first-team defense, including three straight completions that drove the offense down to the four-yard line before a missed field goal resulted in an empty trip. Overall, he was a total of 6-for-10 with 154 yards and two touchdowns, including a big strike for an 80-yard score to KJ Osborn against the second team. He'll still need to earn the job in the fall from N'Kosi Perry and Jarren Williams, but Saturday was more of what the Hurricanes were expecting out of him when he committed from Ohio State.
