DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Jacob Markstrom, VAN vs. LA ($7,500): The Canucks are looking to sweep a home-and-home series after winning 4-2 with Markstrom in net Saturday. They're now back home and starting to get their regulars back in the lineup, including top defenseman Alex Edler and maybe even sniper Brock Boeser, who is a game-time decision. The Kings, who are last in goals scored, might even make it easier for Markstrom if Willie Desjardins decides to bench Ilya Kovalchuk again.

CENTER

Elias Pettersson, VAN vs. LA ($5,700): Pettersson scored the game-winner and added an assist in a 4-2 win against the Kings on Saturday in L.A., but I like him mostly because the Kings are an easy matchup; it's their third game in four days and the fourth game of their road trip overall.

Dylan Strome, CHI vs. VGK ($3,000): This trade might make or break GM Stan Bowman, so there's definitely a lot of interest in Strome's Blackhawks debut. He will bump Artem Anisimov from the second line, re-uniting with former OHL Eerie linemate Alex DeBrincat and also inheriting Patrick Kane on the right wing, putting Strome in a position of both great expectations and great opportunity. Marc-Andre Fleury has a .887 save percentage on the road this season.

WING

Jeff Skinner, BUF vs. SJ ($6,900): In the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business, the young guns of Buffalo have been led by Skinner, who is second in the league with 18 goals and on pace for his best season ever. His value has never been higher, and his chemistry with Jack Eichel make them a formidable duo. The Sharks have remained inconsistent with two shutout wins and two losses, and allowed six goals against the Knights on Saturday.

Zach Parise, MIN vs. ARI ($6,500): He's on a four-game point streak with three goals and an assist, and the Wild being much better than everyone thought they would is an underrated story this season. Parise has missed just one game and is already halfway to 20 goals, a total he's failed to reach the past two seasons. The Coyotes lineup is in a bit of a flux with the addition of Nick Schmaltz and his potential impact on Alex Galchenyuk's role.

Wayne Simmonds, PHI vs. OTT ($5,300): He had a three-game point streak snapped in a 6-0 loss to Toronto, which also cost GM Ron Hextall his job and put the entire team on notice. Simmonds is an impending free agent, and if the Flyers fall further back from the playoff race, he'll be dealt for sure. He can raise his trade value by playing well, so it's a good thing the Sens are a weak opponent and that he's scored 16 points in 24 career games against them.

DEFENSE

Dustin Byfuglien, WPG vs. PIT ($6,000): Byfuglien has scored three of his four points with the man advantage this past week, and the Jets currently have the best power play in the lockout era. With the amount of shots and blocked shots Byfuglien gets, he remains a high-floor fantasy defenseman, and the Penguins defense and goaltending have been inconsistent all season.

Shea Weber, MON vs. CAR ($4,700): Yes, Weber will play Tuesday night, making his return after a knee injury kept him off the ice for nearly a year. There's no chance Weber will be the same after a serious injury like that, and his mobility was never a strength, but his point shot and shot blocking remain invaluable. There will be no white gloves for the Habs captain, who's expected to make a difference right away.
