Barch has been released from his professional tryout offer with the Coyotes.
ANALYSIS
The Coyotes auditioned several players for checking line roles in training camp, but Barch didn't do enough to warrant a spot on the team's 23-man roster. He'll likely turn his attention toward landing an AHL deal.

Barch did not register a single point last year as he saw himself in and out of the lineup but he managed to accrue 44 penalty minutes. Don't expect him to have much of an impact this season -- even in goon leagues -- as he is not guaranteed a regular spot in the lineup.
The Devils felt David Clarkson and Cam Janssen weren’t enough toughness so they proceeded to sign Barch from Florida to keep up with the Rangers and Flyers in the arms race. Barch had 114 penalty minutes in 41 games with the Panthers last year and likely will post similar numbers with the Devils this season.
Barch missed have the season due to various injuries, the most serious of which was a scratched cornea. He failed to eclipse 100 PIMs as a result, finishing the year with 80 PIMs in 44 games. He'll return in his role as Dallas' primary knuckle-chucker in 2011-12.
Barch paired with Steve Ott to serve as Dallas' knuckle chuckers last season, with Barch amassing 130 PIMs in 63 games. He chiped in with just six assists on the season, limiting his value to PIM leagues only. Given Ott's importance to Dallas' offense, Barch could be leaned on heavier to provide the fisticuffs after signing a two-year contract extension that runs through the 2011-12 season.
Barch was a curious favorite of former coach Dave Tippet at times last season, and skated almost exclusively on Dallas' fourth line. He's a decent source of PIMS, eclipsing the 100 PIM mark in his three seasons, but his mere 27 shots on goals in 72 games last season (4G, 5A) tells you all you need to know about his offense. It doesn't exist.
Barch offers nothing from a fantasy perspective, and only has value in leagues that count PIMs. When he's in the lineup, he'll usually drop the gloves.
Barch will battle with Steve Ott, Brad Winchester and Todd Fedoruk for playing time on Dallas' fourth line. He'll have no value outside of PIMs, which he racked up quite effectively last year (107 in 26 games for Dallas, 110 in 31 games for Iowa in the AHL).
