Sweetland was a first-rate scorer in the juniors. In 2006-07, with the Amherst Ramblers, he blew up for 117 points in 54 games. However, he's received a reality check since then, totaling just 16 points (6 G, 10 A) in 99 games the past two years with the Rochester Americans of the AHL. He's nothing more than a depth option for the Panthers organization.
Sweetland is a big forward who can score, but he split last season between the AHL and ECHL after abandoning the college game after one year. He's a long-term prospect at best, and not a terribly good one at that.
Sweetland flew the coup at Maine after just his freshman season, in which he was fourth on the team in scoring with 8-9—17. He will be in AHL Rochester or ECHL Florida this season.
