Scott is one of those character forwards that every team needs. But, despite a solid run with the AHL's Marlies last year, Scott will be hard-pressed to get a sniff with the big club this season. He'll get there some day, but there's no need to consider him for any fantasy roster until he shows up.
Scott is a real character guy but so are hundreds of other minor pros. He did grow his game during his second year with the Marlies (he almost matched his point tally from his previous season in 16 fewer games). But he's not exactly a guy we'd even count in the Leafs' top 30 prospects.
Scott is a character player whose ceiling really is quite low. His first year as a pro last season saw him toiling in the bottom six with the Marlies or riding the super-crappy buses of the ECHL. No need to be on your radar.
Scott is coming off an overage season in the WHL with 32 goals, 76 points and a plus-40 rating in 80 games. Decent offense but it's that plus-minus that really stands out -- he led the league. He'll toil in the minors this season and will probably get to the NHL as a third-line checker. He may even excel in that role. But that won't make him fantasy worthy.
Scott signed as an undrafted free agent out of the WHL. He scored 38 goals and had 78 points in 72 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds. He'll play in the AHL and try to make it to the big squad the hard way.
