The 6-0, 185-pound Button is a puck-moving blueliner who adds depth to the organization's solid back line corps, but he’ll need to bulk up some to cut it at the NHL level. Moreover, he’ll need to show more offensive spark (he recorded just eight points in 58 minor league contests last season combined between the AHL and ECHL) to get back into the equation for a possible in-season callup.
Button, who skated with AHL Providence late in the season on an Amateur Tryout Agreement, appeared in seven games with the Baby B's, recording one assist. Button, who will most likely start the 2011-12 season back in Providence, is a puck-moving blueliner who adds depth to the organization's already solid backline corps. Button is a good skater who has drawn comparisons to San Jose's Marc-Edouard Vlasic. He'll go back to WHL Prince Albert this year, where like many young prospects, he'll need to fill out some. He'll be a player to watch in the coming years though, given the premium placed on developing mobile blueliners.
