Viedensky will be a free agent Tuesday after the Sharks did not give him a qualifying offer on Monday.

ANALYSIS
Viedensky has a lot of potential, but doesn't always show up. He looked good at times for AHL Worcester last season, when he scored six goals and 17 assists over 54 games, but didn't produce enough to leave a mark. It was the same story when he played for Team Slovakia at the IIHF World Championships, some flashes of that potential, but never enough to leave an impression. At only 24 and 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, he'll find a home elsewhere on a two-way contract.

Viedensky if fresh off an incredible 2010-11 campaign with the Saskatoon Blades, which included 88 points ( 36 G, 52 A) in 63 games. The sizable center (6-foot-3, 208 pounds) also went plus-60, which was second best in the entire WHL. The Slovakian has a high ceiling in terms of potential, yet one can expect him to get some development time in the minors before he’ll be ready for the big stage of the NHL.

Selected in the seventh round of the 2009 Entry Draft, Viedensky could prove to be a solid two-way player in the future. Last season, he flashed his offensive potential by recording 16 goals and 18 assists in 30 games with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. Expect 20-year old to fine tune his skills in the minors this season.
