Flick, who the Bruins acquired from the Blackhawks in April of 2013, provides the organization with an option should the team be looking to a tough guy up front, but after seeing the team usher veteran grinder Shawn Thornton out, that doesn’t seem like a big priority for a team that still boasts a nice blend of skill and muscle.
Flick, who the Bruins aquired from the Blackhawks for Maxime Sauve last April, is a gritty forward who provides the organization with some muscle. He recorded five points and 104 PIMs in 56 AHL contests this past season.
Last year, Flick split time with Toledo of the ECHL and Rockford of the AHL in his first professional season. The center skated in 17 games at Toledo and then 45 games for Rockford. He only tallied seven goals and six assists for the AHL IceHogs, but most impressively, eight of those points came in his last 13 games. He'll spend a full season in Rockford in 2012-13 and will look to build on those numbers.
Flick was assigned by the Blackhawks to Rockford of the AHL in September. This will be the first taste of professional hockey after skating for the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors OHL last season.
