ANALYSIS
Ewanyk is a 22-year-old center who has played the last two years with Oklahoma City of the AHL. Last season, he scored three goals, added five assists, and racked up 120 PIM in 69 games. He's simply a role guy without the skills to become a contributor at the NHL level. He'll be reunited with former junior teammate Curtis Lazar in Canada's capital.

Ewanwyk has a long way to go before he ever reaches the NHL. His quickest route to Edmonton will be to continue with his physical play, but he will also need to show some offensive skills and convince the team he can light the lamp every now and again. He begins his pro career in 2012-13.
Ewanwyk was chosen in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He is a bruising winger who could be destined for a third- or fourth-line tough guy role with the Oilers sometime down the road.
