DeFazio signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Isles this off-season, more than likely to give the team some depth in the AHL. DeFazio could play the role left vacant by the recently departed Michael Haley, that of a tough guy who can also put the puck in the net from occasionally. He scored 11 goals and recorded 104 penalty minutes with Wilkes-Barre (AHL) while with the Penguins' organization last year.
