Jordan Szwarz
Jordan Szwarz
27-Year-Old Right WingRW
Boston Bruins
2018 Fantasy Outlook
Szwarz is coming off a fine season in the minors that saw him score 48 points (21 goals, 27 assists) in 52 games for AHL Providence, while sporting a spiffy plus-30 rating. He also saw 12 games with the big club, en route to logging three helpers. While the 27-year-old isn't viewed as a top prospect by the Bruins, he's capable of holding his own at the NHL level which gives him utility as an organizational depth guy. Read Past Outlooks
Laces up for just 12 games during 2017-18

Szwarz dished out three assists through 12 games in the 2017-18 season, while averaging 11:30 of ice time.
ANALYSIS
Although Szwarz didn't have a big role this season, he's never skated for more than 26 games over his three NHL campaigns, and didn't skate in an NHL game last year. Nonetheless, the 27-year-old was fantastic in the minors, scoring 48 points (21 goals, 27 assists) in 52 games for AHL Providence and impressively going plus-30 in the process. The big handicap to Szwarz's game is his low 5-foot-11 frame. He'll return to Boston in 2018-19 for the last season of his contract, and if Szwarz doesn't receive a roster invitation following training camp, he'll presumably be a popular option for recall.

The Coyotes re-signed Szwarz to a two-year contract as a restricted free agent following a season in which he saw action in 26 games for the big club and served as captain of the AHL Portland Pirates. He will contend for a roster spot as a role player and energy guy, but may fall victim to the "AHL captain" minor-league curse.
Szwarz tallied 20 points in 58 games for the Portland Piratesof the AHL last season, a stunning drop-off from his previous seasons in the OHL where he notched 51, 54 and 66 points in three seasons. Expect him to continue to develop his game in the AHL this season, but it looks like the progress could be slower than anticipated.
Szwarz, a former fourth-round pick, has spent most of his time in the OHL, where he played at a hair over a point-per-game pace last season (66 points, 65 games) with a plus-33 rating. Szwarz will likely begin 2011-12 with the team's AHL affiliate and if he can duplicate his OHL successes, there's a chance he could see a call-up to the NHL level.
