Johnson has very little NHL experience, with just one assist in 18 games over the last two years. Nonetheless, he's in the mix for a roster spot in 2020-21, as the 26-year-old forward put up 31 points in 42 games with AHL Iowa last year. Johnson doesn't project to be much more than a fourth-line option for the Wild, as he plays a fairly physical game. However, he's on a two-way contract, so the Wild won't hesitate to send him to the minors if he can't displace Nico Sturm for a roster spot.
