Extension in works
Seeler, who was placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury Wednesday, and the Flyers are reportedly working on a contract extension, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
ANALYSIS
Seeler has scored just one goal in 63 games this season despite putting 81 shots on net. The blueliner has chipped in 11 helpers but won't be confused for an offensive dynamo any time soon. Still, the Minnesota native could offer decent fantasy value in formats that utilize hits and blocks as he has racked up 112 and 184, respectively, in those categories this year.

Seeler only got into 12 NHL games last year, managing just one assist between the Wild and the Blackhawks. At 27 years old, Seeler is likely more of a depth option than a steady presence in any lineup, and that's likely the role he'll serve with the Blackhawks. He may occasionally do well enough to bump Calvin de Haan or Brent Seabrook from the top six, but it's highly unlikely Seeler makes much of a scoring impact even when he's playing. His role will almost exclusively be limited to shutdown duties on the third pairing.
