The 26-year-old Lauridsen had appeared in 16 games with the Flyers across the last three seasons, including one in 2014-15, but it became clear that the unrestricted free agent wasn't valued highly in the organization due to the influx of well-regarded defensive prospects coming up the pipeline. As a result, the 6-foot-6 rearguard elected to head over to Europe, where he'll attempt to improve his stock and return to North America next summer.

The tall, 220-pound Lauridsen signed a two-year extension in the offseason after contributing three points and 34 PIM in 15 games with the Flyers last season. He's a big presence on the blue line, but the Flyers also have a crowded defensive corps. And since his extension is a two-way deal, he could spend time in the minors while the Flyers figure out their defensive pairings.
