Yahoo DFS Hockey: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Sunday's two-game NHL slate features a pair of road teams looking to even their respective series. While the Blues and Predators will put all their effort into avoiding falling behind 0-2, Stars and Sharks players should be valuable due to their teams' status as favorites.

GOALIE

Kari Lehtonen, DAL vs. STL ($35): Lehtonen has been tremendous at home this postseason, allowing just two goals in three starts en route to a 3-0 record at the American Airlines Center. Until he shows a chink in the armor, the Finnish netminder deserves a spot in the lineup at his $35 price tag.

Goalie to Avoid:

Martin Jones, SJ vs. NSH ($38): The Sharks have struggled at home all season, so it'd be surprising to see them open this series with consecutive home victories. At his expensive $38 price, it's tough to take Jones given his team's lack of clear advantage and the fact that he's yet to reach 30 saves in a game this postseason.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SJ vs. NSH ($25): Couture has been extremely productive during his three-game point streak, contributing two goals and four assists. The five-time 20-goal scorer has been a bit of an afterthought on the Sharks during an injury-plagued campaign, but he's starting to round into form at the best possible time. Keep riding Couture while he's hot, as he has proven capable of maintaining this level of effectiveness for extended stretches before.

Center to Avoid:

Jason Spezza, DAL vs. STL ($28): Spezza's poor play at home continued Friday, as he was held off the scoresheet for the third time in four home games. He certainly hasn't performed like a $28 player at the American Airlines Center thus far, making it hard to believe that he will this time around.

WING

Colin Wilson, NSH at SJ ($19): Wilson played a big role in Game 1, recording an assist while seeing over 17 minutes of ice time for the first time since Apr. 19. His stock is on the rise after opening the scoring in Game 7 against Anaheim, and the Predators have been rewarding that strong play with increased opportunities. Wilson's price won't stay at $19 for long if he keeps this up, so grab him while you still can.

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL at DAL ($30): Even after a disappointing Game 1, Tarasenko has eight goals in 15 career meetings with the Stars. Their chances of containing the Russian winger two games in a row seem low, especially considering this current two-game stretch is the longest he's gone between goals all postseason. A Blues team with the mental fortitude to knock off the defending champion Blackhawks won't just lay down in the second round, and their leading goal scorer is as likely a candidate as any to lead their push back.

Wings to Avoid:

James Neal, NSH at SJ ($22): Outside of a two-point Game 6 against Anaheim, Neal has just one point this postseason. Paying $22 for him is a risky move given the winger's lack of production thus far.

Jaden Schwartz, STL at DAL ($24): Schwartz is a bit overpriced at $24 considering he's averaging just 5.3 fantasy points per game over his last three. It's hard to envision him significantly outperforming that mark in Game 2 with Dallas netminder Kari Lehtonen in the zone at the moment.

DEFENSE

Colton Parayko, STL at DAL ($21): Parayko has stepped things up over the last two games, totalling 25.0 fantasy points thanks to a goal, an assist, and a plus-2 rating. The rookie is likely to continue putting up stats now that he's adjusted to playoff hockey, so keep riding him at just $21.

John Klingberg, DAL vs. STL ($19): Klingberg has come alive after going without a point in his first four postseason appearances, totalling 30.0 fantasy points over a three-game point streak. The Swedish blueliner proved capable of consistent, extensive offensive production during a 58-point regular season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him keep piling up points now that he's gotten hot. His scoring upside makes Klingberg well worth a $19 investment.

Defenseman to Avoid:

Shea Weber, NSH at SJ ($27): Weber hasn't been living up to his high price tag lately, scoring 2.0 or less fantasy points in two of the last four games. There are smarter ways to spend $27.
