This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.
This may not mean much to you, but this Saturday features a pretty mediocre slate of college football games. However, not all is lost, because there are 11 NHL games taking place as well. If you want to take advantage of this big slate of games to play some daily fantasy, here are some of the best values available.
GOALIE
Sergei Bobrovsky, CLM vs. STL ($7,400): Bobrovsky is coming off a rough night where he gave up four goals on nine shots. Despite that, though, he still has a .935 save percentage on the season. The Blues are only scoring 2.2 goals per game, and they have a minus-6 goal differential. Bobrovsky has a good chance to pick up a win, and he's also really cheap.
CENTER
Eric Staal, MIN at PHI ($5,300): Staal seems like he's having something of a resurgent season with the Wild, as he has 11 points and 34 shots on goal in 12 games. The Flyers are bad at goal prevention, and they will be on the second night of a back-to-back. This would be a good matchup for Staal regardless, but the Flyers' potential fatigue just makes it even better for him.
David Krejci, BOS at ARI ($5,300): Krejci only has one goal this season, but he's taken 28 shots on goal, so that will improve. He also has six assists and is playing 3:33 a night on the power play. The Coyotes have questionable goaltending and are allowing 3.6 goals per game. This is a nice opportunity for Krejci.
WING
Chris Kreider, NYR at CGY ($6,800): Kreider hasn't been as good since he returned from injury, but he's still playing the most minutes of his career, and he has 10 points in 10 games. The Flames are near the bottom of the NHL in both goals allowed and penalty-kill percentage, so this could be the game where Kreider finally lights the lamp once more.
Marcus Johansson, WSH at CAR ($4,900): Johansson has been efficient so far, with 12 points (four on the power play) in 13 games. Now he gets to go up against Cam Ward, a goalie with a sub-.900 save percentage. Justin Faulk, Carolina's best defenseman, is also injured, so this matchup is looking quite favorable for Johansson.
Phil Kessel, PIT vs. TOR ($6,000): Kessel only has three goals this season, but he has 10 assists and nine power play points. Toronto will be on the second night of a back-to-back, and their goal prevention is bad under any circumstances. Kessel won't necessarily try harder because he's facing his former team, but he could have a good night against them anyway, and he'll probably be particularly happy if he does.
DEFENSEMEN
Zach Werenski, CLM vs. STL ($5,600): Jake Allen only has a .907 save percentage for the Blues. Meanwhile, Werenski is playing almost 22 minutes a night, and he's got 11 points in 12 games. He's already a player you want in most matchups, but in this one the rookie's looking like a particularly good value.
Keith Yandle, FLA vs. NYI ($4,800): The Islanders struggle on the penalty kill, and Yandle plays more than three minutes a night on the power play. Yandle doesn't have a goal yet, but he's taken 39 shots, so you know that's going to change soon. At this price, it's worth seeing if it happens Saturday.
