DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There are nine games in the NHL on Tuesday, so there is a deep player pool available on DraftKings, with a few mismatches to target. Here are a handful of selections across multiple price points to consider while assembling your lineups.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. CHI ($7,600): This salary is low. Dubnyk has won five of his last six starts with a .937 save percentage and 1.98 GAA, and leads the league in all three categories for the season. Sure, Chicago is an admirable opponent, but Dubnyk is also 6-0 against Chicago with just 10 goals allowed and a .944 save percentage the past two seasons. There is also a chance Dubnyk is underowned.

CENTER

Auston Matthews, TOR vs. WPG ($7,400): Among all skaters with 1,000 minutes this season, Matthews ranks third in goals (1.63), 14th in points (2.86) and second in shots (11.96) per 60 minutes. He's also been strong of late with five goals, 10 points and 36 shots over his past nine games. This isn't a prohibitive salary, and Winnipeg has allowed 3.15 goals per away game with the fourth worst team save percentage (.912) on the road at five-on-five.

Brayden Point, TAM vs. EDM ($3,900): Clicking with Jonathan Drouin at five-on-five (3.48 goals per 60 minutes), Point has five goals and seven points through eight games since returning from an upper-body injury. Rostering the rookie opens up significant cap space, and he lands in a soft matchup with Edmonton allowing the fifthmost high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league (11.73).

WING

Patrik Laine, WPG at TOR ($6,600): The rookie is scorching hot with five goals, eight points and 18 shots over his past four games. Laine also ranks second in goals (1.71) and sixth in points (3.18) per 60 minutes among all skaters with 900 minutes. Toronto is allowing the third most scoring chances per 60 minutes (31.74) and fourth most goals per game (3.4) since the All-Star break.

Tyler Toffoli, LOS at COL ($5,600): After missing 19 games with a lower-body injury, Toffoli has just one goal through seven contests since returning to action. He entered this season with a solid 2.57 points per 60 minutes over the previous two years, so there is positive offensive regression ahead. A tilt against Colorado checks in as an excellent starting point. The Avalanche have allowed the most goals per game (3.32) with the fourth worst team save percentage (.898) in the league.

Ryan Strome, NYI at DET ($3,900): The coaching change in Brooklyn has helped Strome. He has five goals and 11 points through his past 11 games, and is locked into a role with the No. 1 power-play unit. There is also nothing scary about a matchup with Detroit. The Red Wings allow the fifth most goals per game (2.97) and 11.09 high danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (11th most in the league).

DEFENSE

Drew Doughty, LOS at COL ($5,500): As noted, this is a soft matchup against the Avalanche, and Doughty's salary is reasonable. He's averaged 27:51 of ice time with 3:32 on the power play over his past six games, but has just a single assist. The stretch was preceded by a seven-game point streak, so look for the minute-eating defenseman to return to the scoresheet Tuesday.

Oscar Klefbom, EDM at TAM ($5,100): A high-volume shooter (2.51 shots per game), Klefbom has received a recent fantasy boost with a promotion to the No. 1 power-play unit. He's also notched three goals, eight points and 24 blocked shots over his past 11 games. It's also worth noting that the forward Klefbom plays with most frequently at five-on-five is Connor McDavid.
