NHL Waiver Wire: Picks of the Week

This article is part of our NHL Waiver Wire series.

Looking at next week's schedule, every team plays at least three games with the Hurricanes suiting up a league-high five times. Carolina has a number of solid youngsters to consider adding for their busy upcoming schedule.

However, the most coveted target is Antti Raanta. With Henrik Lundqvist sidelined for 2-to-3 weeks with a lower-body injury. Raanta will start most nights, and the 27-year-old netminder has been solid this year. He's an immediate add, even if it's just to prevent another owner from picking him up.

With that in mind, remember to double-check the availability of players previously covered in this space and keep tabs on the recommended adds in the our Daily Puck articles throughout the week. Feel free to hit the comments with any questions or if you have a coin-flip decision.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau, F, OTT (Yahoo: 6%, ESPN: 8%, CBS: 11%): Currently sporting a five-game point streak with three goals and three assists, Pageau continues to prove capable of improving his offensive numbers with an expanded role. The duration of Kyle Turris' (finger) absence is unknown, but for the time being, Pageau is stepping up. Just know that his fantasy value may be fleeting.

Sebastian Aho, F, CAR (Yahoo: 30%, ESPN: 25%, CBS: 55%): While held to just four shots and no points against Toronto on Saturday, the rookie notched eight goals, 12 points and 49 shots through his previous 16 outings. Aho has also logged over 17 minutes in each of the past

Sebastian Aho, F, CAR (Yahoo: 30%, ESPN: 25%, CBS: 55%): While held to just four shots and no points against Toronto on Saturday, the rookie notched eight goals, 12 points and 49 shots through his previous 16 outings. Aho has also logged over 17 minutes in each of the past four games, and the 19-year-old winger has the upside to finish the season strong.

Elias Lindholm, F CAR (Yahoo: 6%, ESPN: 8%, CBS: 22%): The fourth-year 'Cane has picked up his production considerably since late December with 24 points and 69 shots through his past 28 games. Unfortunately, Lindholm has just four goals during the span. Still, he's frequenting the scoresheet, and his 5.74 shooting percentage over the past two seasons is extremely low. An uptick in goals isn't out of the question.

Drew Stafford, F, BOS (Yahoo: 3%, ESPN: 3%, CBS: 8%): The veteran winger has found the scoresheet in three of four games with the Bruins for two goals, two assists and 16 shots, and he scored the game-winning goal Saturday against Philadelphia. Stafford is slowing down, and he's highly unlikely to produce at a point-per-game pace through the end of the year. However, he's been handed an offensive role in a dangerous top-six group, so he is worth considering in most settings. His high shot volume is especially encouraging.

T.J. Brodie, D, CGY (Yahoo: 35%, ESPN: 49%, CBS: 59%): Calgary is absolutely cruising with nine consecutive wins, and Brodie has two goals, six points, 12 shots, 12 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating through his past six games. An excellent fantasy finish is well within reach for the 26-year-old defenseman, and don't forget, Brodie entered 2016-17 with two straight 40-point campaigns.

Antti Raanta, G, NYR (Yahoo: 46%, ESPN: 19%, CBS: 42%): As noted, Raanta is the go-to goalie to add in all settings. He will see the lion's share of starts with Henrik Lundqvist (lower body) on the shelf. Equally important, though, is that Raanta has been excellent when called upon this season. He sports a 13-6 record with .922 save percentage and 2.32 GAA. The Rangers offense should also continue to provide plenty of goal support.
