DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Martin Jones, SAN vs. ANA ($8,200): Not only did the Ducks lose 5-3 to Nashville on Friday, Anaheim is also dealing with plenty of injuries and enters generating the fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (8.8) at five-on-five in the league. Jones enters in high-end form with a 6-1 record, .947 save percentage and 1.44 GAA through his past seven starts, including allowing two goals or fewer in each outing. Additionally, because his salary is so high, he could carry a low ownership percentage.

CENTER

Sidney Crosby, PIT at VAN ($7,400): With just two helpers through his past seven games, No. 87's salary has dipped into profit territory. A month ago, this would have checked out as a target-worthy matchup, and overvaluing early-season results is often shortsighted. A multi-point showing from Crosby is always in play, and it would send him soaring over value Saturday.

Aleksander Barkov, FLA vs. NYR ($6,400): The Rangers are allowing the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.9) at five-on-five in the league, and Henrik Lundqvist sports a .896 save percentage and 3.11 GAA over his past six outings. For his part, Barkov has collected four goals, 11 points and 22 shots while averaging 22:42 of ice time (3:26 with the man advantage) through his past seven outings.

WING

Joe Pavelski, SAN vs. ANA ($6,500): As noted, this isn't an ideal schedule spot for Anaheim, and Pavelski checks out as another buy-low candidate. The veteran has collected a respectable four goals, six points and 23 shots through his past eight games, and he remains a staple on the top line and No. 1 power-play unit.

Sebastian Aho, CAR at ARI ($5,300): The 20-year-old winger appears to be turning up the offense of late with four assists and 19 shots through his past six games. Additionally, Aho is still looking for his first goal of the season despite firing 33 shots. After scoring 24 goals during last season's rookie campaign, it's probably safe to project his first tally of the season is coming sooner rather than later. It has to be added that Arizona has surrendered the fifth most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.8) at five-on-five this season, too.

Max Domi, ARI vs. CAR ($4,500): Another talented winger with positive regression ahead in the goal column, Domi sports a 13-game goalless drought and 2.4 percent shooting percentage on the campaign. However, he's still registered 10 points and 42 shots through 14 games, so the 22-year-old winger does offer a respectable fantasy floor playing top-line minutes and skating on the No. 1 power-play unit.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL vs. BUF ($5,500): Buffalo is allowing 3.9 goals and 11.3 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes on the road this season, and Klingberg is ripe for a solid outing after missing the scoresheet in consecutive games. The Swedish defenseman continues to receive top offensive minutes and enters with a high-end 2.1 points per 60 minutes for the campaign.

John Carlson, WAS at BOS ($5,400): The Capitals go-to defenseman in all situations has been logging huge minutes (27:02, with 3:57 on the power play) and padding the scoresheet with nine assists, 44 shots and 21 blocked shots through 13 contests. His usage and cross-category profile make Carlson a high-floor, high-ceiling option, and his salary is manageable.
