DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Braden Holtby, WAS at VGK ($7,400): Shorting the Golden Knights has been a recurring nightmare this season, and Washington enters this contest following a 3-2 overtime loss to Arizona on Friday. Still, Holtby has won 16 of his past 20 games with a .921 save percentage, and this salary doesn't match his current form or long-standing track record.

CENTER

Nathan MacKinnon, COL at ARI ($7,000): With an elite 3.55 points per 60 minutes, everything appears to have finally come together for MacKinnon. He's also sporting a four-game point streak with four goals, three assists and 16 shots, and the Coyotes are playing on the wrong end of a back-to-back set.

Alexander Wennberg, CLM vs. PHI ($4,500): There is nice value here for the Swedish center. Wennberg has started to turn his season around with two goals, three assists and an average of 18:43 of ice time (3:05 on the power play) through his past five contests. Remember he recorded 59 points last season, including 23 with the man advantage. Columbus also draws the Flyers on the second leg of back-to-back road contests.

WING

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL at VAN ($7,700): The Canucks have allowed 4.11 goals per game in December, so this sets up as a nice spot for Tarasenko. Additionally, with a three-game point drought, it's a fitting time for a bounce-back showing. After all, Tarasenko is tied for second in goals (94) over the past three seasons across the entire league, and his 2.95 points per hour rank ninth among all skaters with at least 2,500 minutes played.

Evgenii Dadonov, FLA vs. OTT ($5,000): Injuries and a demotion to the second line have hindered Dadonov's production following a hot start to the campaign. However, he's still sporting a respectable 2.42 points per 60 minutes, and Ottawa is allowing 3.67 goals per game and 12.78 high-danger scoring chances per hour through 10 December games. Expect Dadonov to also carry a low ownership percentage.

Ondrej Kase, ANA at PIT ($3,300): A low-priced option, Kase has scored in consecutive outings and is projected to remain on the No. 1 line with Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell. The Penguins are obviously a tough draw, but Pittsburgh has also won just one of its past eight games in regulation. It's rare to find a player in a top-line role in Kase's price range, too.

DEFENSE

Tyson Barrie, COL at ARI ($4,700): This salary doesn't align with Barrie's dominant start to the 2017-18 campaign. His 2.24 points per 60 minutes are tied for third among all defensemen with at least 500 minutes played, and he's feasted on the man advantage with two goals, 10 assists and an average of 4:06 of power-play time per contest. As noted, the Coyotes are playing their second game in consecutive nights.

Mike Matheson, FLA vs. OTT ($3,300): The 23-year-old defenseman provides cap relief with a side of upside against the reeling Senators. Matheson has recorded a respectable three goals, seven points, 26 shots and 24 blocked shots through his past 13 games, and he's projected to skate with the No. 2 power-play unit. Additionally, like teammate Dadonov, Matheson should be scarcely owned.
