FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Jacob Markstrom, VAN at MTL ($7,500): Markstrom sees a great matchup tonight against the Canadiens who are averaging just 2.46 goals per game, 29th in the NHL. He has double-digit fantasy points on in each of his last four starts and has seen at least 30 shots against in each of those contests. Markstrom has had a good season for a poor Vancouver team with a .906 save percentage and a 2.79 goals against average.

Center

Erik Haula, VGK vs NYR ($5,800): Haula has had a surprisingly productive season with 15 goals and 13 assists for the Golden Knights, one of the highest-scoring teams in the league. He's registered a point in three of his last four contests with two goals and an assist over that span. Haula has gelled with linemates James Neal and David Perron, especially with the trio skating together on the same power-play unit. Look for a productive effort out of him facing a Rangers team that just played last night and had to go all the way through a shootout before emerging victorious.

David Krejci, BOS at PIT ($5,600): The Bruins exploded last night for seven goals against the Hurricanes, a game in which Krejci had an assists. He's in a good spot against the Penguins, against whom he has three goals and an assist in his last four games. Krejci has averaged around 17 minutes of ice per game while recently serving as second-line center>b and has three points in his last three games.

Wing

Daniel Sprong, PIT vs BOS ($3,700): Sprong has come up and made an impression skating on the top line with Sidney Crosby, depositing two goals with an assist in his last game, with 17 shots on goal in his first four NHL contests. It's clear that he's not afraid to shoot the puck and that Mike Sullivan isn't afraid to throw him into game action: The youngster has exceeded 15 minutes of ice time in all but one of his first four. He'll see power-play time sporadically, but Sprong has displayed scoring ability early on, and while he's this cheap, he'll be a supreme value option.

Reilly Smith, VGK vs NYR ($5,700): Smith is another Golden Knight having a great season with 11 goals and 23 assists. He has two goals and six assists in his last five games and skating with former Panthers teammate Jonathan Marchessault at even strength and on the power play, the two have picked up right where they left off with Florida. In a matchup with the Rangers earlier this season, Smith had two goals and should have the luxury of facing backup Ondrej Pavelec tonight.

Gustav Nyquist, DET vs TB ($6,200): Nyquist and the Red Wings face a Lightning team that was pushed around on the ice last night against Ottawa and who will likely be starting backup Louis Domingue between the pipes. Nyquist has three goals in his last three games with an average of three shots on goal per game over that span. With nine wingers priced higher than him on this short of a slate, he should easily hit value.

Defense

Jeff Petry, MTL vs VAN ($3,600): Petry should excel in a great matchup against the Canucks, who have allowed the second-most goals to defensemen over that last four weeks. With Shea Weber hurt, Petry has seen an increase in minutes with time on the top power-play unit. He saves a ton of salary and should continue to see a solid amount of ice time moving forward.

Charlie McAvoy, BOS at PIT ($4,400): McAvoy has a point in two of his last three games and has seen at least two minutes of power-play time in each of his last four games. The rookie, who made his debut in last year's Stanley Cup playoffs, has impressed in his first regular-season work with five goals and 16 assists this season.
