FanDuel NHL: Sunday Playoff Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Playoff Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

As has been typical during these playoffs, this Sunday features an afternoon contest. That means you'll need to have your daily fantasy lineups in by 3:00 p.m. ET. Here are some players I recommend from Sunday's two NHL games.

GOALIE

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG at NAS ($8,500): It doesn't feel wise to go with either goalie from the Capitals-Penguins game. Pekka Rinne had a great regular season, but he has a 2.81 GAA and .900 save percentage in the playoffs. Plus, Hellebuyck had a fine regular season of his own with a 2.36 GAA and .924 save percentage.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG at NAS ($7,500): Scheifele has two points in each of his last three games, including the opening contest in this series. During the regular season, he notched 60 points in 60 games, including 16 on the power play. As previously noted, Rinne has a 2.81 GAA and .900 save percentage in the postseason.

Ryan Johansen, NAS vs. WPG ($6,200): Though he hasn't scored in his last three contests, Johansen had a point in the first four playoffs games. He also has 13 points in his last 16 games, and he averaged 3:03 per game on the power play this year. The Jets had a 2.80 road GAA and allowed 34.3 shots on net per game in away contests. Additionally, even though Connor Hellebuyck played great in Game 1, he had to face 47 shots.

WING

Jake Guentzel, PIT at WAS ($6,900): Guentzel's tremendous postseason continued in Game 1 of this series, as he tallied three points. Overall, he has a whopping 16 points in the playoffs. He may cool down, but as long as he's playing alongside Sidney Crosby, he should be just fine. Braden Holtby's performance has perked up during the playoffs, but during the regular season, he had a 2.99 GAA and .907 save percentage.

T.J. Oshie, WAS vs. PIT ($5,500): Oshie averaged 3:22 per game on the power play and notched 18 points with the extra man in 74 contests. He has four points in the playoffs and 15 points in his last 18 games. For their part, the Penguins have a 3.37 road GAA.

Tom Wilson, WAS vs. PIT ($4,200): Wilson isn't known for his offensive firepower, but he does skate on a line with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov, which helps his fantasy potential. Over his last five games, he's averaged 20:23 in ice time and tallied five points and 18 shots on net. That includes two points in Game 1 of this series. It's not often you can get a first-line player at this price.

DEFENSE

Kris Letang, PIT at WAS ($6,200): Letang notched 51 points and 222 shots on net this season. That includes 20 points with the extra man. The defenseman also has 14 points in his last 14 contests, including four goals. As mentioned previously, Braden Holtby had a 2.99 GAA and .907 save percentage this season.

Jacob Trouba, WPG at NAS ($4,700): Trouba has at least three shots on net in his last five games and 17 shots overall. Since returning from injury, he has 29 shots on goal in nine contests. The defenseman also blocked 100 shots in 55 games and has added 17 more in six playoff outings. Even if Trouba doesn't manage a point, he can still help your fantasy lineup.
